Creations, Wild Leopard Bottle
MacKenzie-Childs launched a new design recently, Leopard
These ceramic pieces are painted with a leopard pattern
mixed with stripes, checks, and dots
I must admit that I am not wild about this new line…
but I decided to play around with my own version of it~
I save unique bottles for crafting
and chose this square tequila bottle for this creation
I didn’t remove the labels {because that’s a pain}
and just painted over everything with white chalk paint
I gave it 2 coats and knew once I painted patterns on it
the labels would disappear
The first step was large shapes of golden brown
for the leopard print base
I used acrylic gloss craft paint for the designs
Dark brown dots were the next step
Then small black dots finish the leopard pattern
Now I added a band of black and white checks
I painted a row of black dots down the angled bottle edges of all 4 sides
At this point I didn’t know what patterns I wanted to add next ~
I spent a day or two thinking about it,
looking at other MacKenzie-Childs patterns
I finally decided to paint every side with a different pattern
Might as well go WILD, right!
The bottle neck was painted with black dots
and each bottle side got coordinating colored dots at the top
All done!
So what do you think?
I kind of like my knock off bottle,
it looks cute perched on my MacKenzie-Childs cake stand…

Jenna, you always jump right in. Love your version of the lMC inspired leopard series.
I’m very selective of what I add in these days, so not sure if I’ll jump in and buy a piece. If I did, it might be a flower pot that I could mix in with my others for a touch of surprise. I need to play around with that idea. Happy Sunday!

Well, that’s different. I can’t decide if I like the combination or not. When my granddaughters were preschoolers, their leopard loving mother taught them leopard as a color. 😂
Ha ha, that is funny! I do like leopard prints, but mixed with bright colors and other designs, not so much! I am interested to see how the MacKenzie-Childs pieces do, and if they will continue to add more things to their line. I do like my bottle though, so it must be growing on me!
So fun and colorful Jenna and I love the shape of the bottle! I just came across a tip on Pinterest to remove labels using OxiClean just by soaking in the sink. Supposedly the label will float right off, might be worth a try. 🙂
Thanks for the tip Mary! I do have Goof Off and Goo Gone, which do work, but floats right off sounds much better 🙂 But once the bottle was finished you can see the labels at all. What do you think on the new MKC leopard things?
