Spring Bunny and Ribbon Carrot

Time for some crafty fun!

My thoughts jumped right to Spring when January was over

and I have been thinking about ways to bring Spring to my decor

Welcome to the monthly Creative Craft Hop

Thank you Sara from Birdz of a Feather

for being our hostess and keeping us organized!

Welcome friends, readers and visitors from Southern Sunflowers

Today I’m going to show you how to make a sweet bunny canvas

and how to make a carrot out of ribbon

to add to your Spring decor

I had a piece of wood from my craft stash

and a piece of wide orange wired edge ribbon

I played around with folding the ribbon to make a carrot shape

I painted the board with a creamy white paint

Then I secured the ribbon to the board with dots of hot glue

Then I spied this green tissue in a gift box of oranges…

It was perfect for the carrot top!

To give it a more finished look I added orange checks to the sides

A flat square brush makes quick work of adding checks with only 1 stroke

For the Spring bunny I painted a small artist’s canvas a pale blue

I free handed the bunny shape,

If you’re not comfortable free handing the bunny shape

you can draw it on paper,

cut it out and then trace the shape on your canvas

very lightly with a pencil, and then paint it

When the paint was dry, I glued a paper flower on for the tail

and glued a ribbon bow to the neck

I used paint pens to apply dots on the background

Then I decided to add checks on the edges of the bunny canvas too

Jenna, your creativity always amazes me. The bunny is precious, and the carrot is such a cute and clever accompaniment. I am so ready for spring. I’ve been thinking about getting my bunnies out. I usually wait until March, but I think they may hop onto the scene a little earlier this year. I hope you have a wonderful day, sweet friend!

These are so cute! I love the 3-D look that everyone is sharing this month. The carrot is something even I, someone who can’t draw a stick figure, can do! I even have the orange ribbon and green tissue paper on hand. Pinned.

  14. Both of your spring crafts are super cute, cute, cute! Love how whimsical the carrot looks and your bunny is so sweet. My husband makes fun of the dots I use so many times in my crafts, but I love me some checks, too ~ lol.
