Fearless Friday, Holiday Art with Simple Shapes
I have mentioned many times that drawing and painting
is just a matter of identifying shapes,
picking a start point in your subject
and creating your art one shape at a time
This cocktail shows an exaggerated example of drawing by shapes

Recently I saw this image on Pinterest and I was enthralled
It is a combination of just a few shapes and colors
and the result is extremely dramatic!
You can easily see and identify the shapes
with the bright color contrast
As one photo led to another, as it often happens on Pinterest,
I continued to discover other holiday images that caught my interest
This Santa face is only 9 simple shapes!

You can give him a snowy sleigh loaded with presents
with just a few lines and dots

This Santa is a little more complicated,
but the lines of the shapes are easy to follow
He really pops when he’s in color!
How about a beautiful angel with only a few shapes colors~
The three Kings

The limited color palette is very effective for the kings below
Last year we did Whimiscal Tree Designs with simple shapes

You can draw some simple holly
Then you can incorporate it with a few ornaments
and make a Merry Christmas sign!
Have some holiday fun with shapes and
Be Fearless!
This will be the last Fearless Friday until after Christmas
Thank you so much for your visits

I love the nativity and these wise men in the limited color palettes!
Isn’t the nativity striking and beautiful! It is amazing how much impact a simple combination of shapes and colors can be!
So many beautiful shapes and designs. Don’t know which I could possibly pick as a favorite.
Thanks Dorothy, these all fascinated me with their simplicity~
These are nice. When Carson and I are drawing, I try to show him how to “see” shapes he knows well — triangles and circles and ovals and such — and how if you can draw those, all you need to do is “refine them” to create your own version. You have shown some wonderful, simple shapes. This is great!
That is such a great way to teach children Jeanie, I bet he loves to do art with you!
I love the graphic aspects of design and advertisements, so these are fun for me to see. I especially like the three kings. It makes all my overthinking of paintings feel exhausting. Next week is a week of rest – and eating. doodling in my sketch book may be a relaxing project – thanks!
Enjoy your Christmas week of R&R! I hope you have the merriest Christmas! 💕🎄🎅🏻
Those shapes forming the angel and the orange shades are so pretty. The curly cue beard on Santa is super cute. Thanks for sharing at the #HomeMattersParty! Allyson @ Southern Sunflowers
Thank you Allyson, I was fascinated with these simple shapes art!

Thanks Angie, just a few shapes and then magic!
Always you make creating seem so simple.
Thanks you Linda, Merry Christmas!
Very fun and so pretty Jenna. You make it seem so easy. It’s difficult to pick a favorite. Happy merry 🎄weekend.
Thank you Linda, Merry, Merry!
Good art lesson. You make it sound so easy! Your examples certainly demonstrate how this hold true for stained glass (which has always attracted me).
The simplicity of all these pieces fascinated me~
I love seeing the shapes that seem so easy! The Nativity is beautiful, Jenna ✨
Yes, that really took my breath away!
Very creative and I love all the shapes and the swirls – you make it look to easy!
Thanks Mary, the simplicity of these designs is so effective, sort of a less is more concept~
