Beachy Bottle

It’s time for the July edition of the Monthly Creative Craft Hop

Thank you Sara from Birdz of a Feather for hosting!

Welcome friends, followers, readers and visitors from Patina and Paint

For my craft this month,

I wanted to do something with this pretty bottle

hmmm….

Looking through my craft stash

I found a container of small sea shells

and an idea started to form

I threw in some flat back glass beads

I decided to paint the bottle to look like the seashore

and glue shells on the sandy beach

I used white liquid acrylic paint,

and light blue and royal blue craft paint,

and yellow ocrhe {not pictured}

I let the first coat dry and then did a second coat

I glued the tan flat glass beads along the bottom indicating sand

Then I indicated the sand with small dots

applied with the tip end of a paint brush

that I dipped in both white and yellow ochre paint

I painted the water’s edge with a wavy light blue

Then royal blue for the deeper part of the ocean

Then I used a mix of white and yellow ochre

and added the waves breaking on the sand with mini strokes

Time for some shells!

At this point, I was busy with the finishing touches

and forgot to take any more photos

as I added more tiny shells

then finished the top with 2 small rectangular tiles

and glass beads

Next up on the hop is Apple Street Cottage

What a great idea, I always have extra bottles laying around, although none of mine are as fancy as yours. Great way to reuse a bottle and keep it from the landfill, a personal favorite of mine! Now I am ready for a breeze, and some sand hitting my feet.

Beautiful way to upcycle a bottle. I never know what to do with bottles since not all of our sites recycle them. Thanks for sharing a great idea.

I enjoyed this project tutorial. I am not artistically inclined, but I love doing crafts. They are more “forgiving” than some forms of artistic endeavor.

The transformation of that bottle is so creative and beach like. Love it. Such a beautiful piece now!

  19. I see why you wanted to create something with the bottle, it’s such a unique shape. Your painted beach scene works out perfectly on the bottle! Great idea for summer decorating.
