Make a Pumpkin with Household Items
It’s time for the monthly Creative Craft Hop!
Thank you Donna from Modern on Monticello
for hosting this month

Welcome friends, readers,
and visitors from Cecelia @ My Thriftstore Addiction
Have you started thinking about Fall yet?
I know many of us are dreaming of cooler temperatures
One of my favorite things about Fall is pumpkins!
And you can never have too many!
I have made fabric pumpkins before

But when I saw pumpkins on Pinterest made with a roll of toilet paper,
I just had to try making one!

I used common household items, toilet paper,
fabric cut from a tablecloth,
plastic grocery bags, cinnamon sticks
and a few things from my craft stash~
faux leaves, and a piece of ribbon

To begin, I put the toilet paper on inside of the tablecloth fabric,
wrapped crumbled plastic grocery bags around half of it,
and began gathering up the fabric and tucking it in the center
I held it in place with a bottle of Mod Podge
and then I cut off the fabric that I didn’t need

I continued to stuff and wrap the pumpkin
I didn’t make it perfectly round,
I made it more like a Cinderella pumpkin,
sort of oval and flat

I tucked cinnamon sticks into the top for a stem

The cinnamon sticks not only smell good,
they hold the fabric in place too

I tied the ribbon around them and tucked in a few leaves

In no time at all, I had a new pumpkin!

I love this idea! Using household items to make a pumpkin is such a clever and resourceful way to get into the fall spirit. It’s amazing how you can transform everyday objects into something festive and fun. I’m thinking of trying this with my family—do you have any tips for making the process easier or for other creative decorations?
Thanks so much Lize, it’s really easy, I’m sure you’ll be able to do it!
Jenna, what a cute idea using household items. My girls love crafting and they would have fun making their own pumpkin. I think we will try this one. Thank you for all the inspiration. Happy Tuesday!
Thanks Pam, it’s so easy, I think the girls would have a lot of fun!
Jenna, you always have the best ideas and I am blown away with your creativity! I’m sure we will be seeing lots of pumpkins made with household items – inspired by you! What a great upcycle idea and fun way to celebrate Fall!
Thanks Gail, just a fun and easy project!
Your’re so right Jenna; you can never have too many pumpkins! This is so cute and I can practically smell those cinnamon sticks!

How perfect! I can do this for our half bath, thanks for sharing this, Jenna. Super cute and so easy. You gave me some inspiration to start decorating our bathroom for Fall!
Thank you Terrie, have fun!

If we ever have another pandemic (God forbid), everyone will be tearing into their pumpkins to find TP! Hahahaha! Good hiding place!
haha, you are so right!!!
Super cute pumpkin. You can never have too many. Love that tablecloth fabric!
Thanks so much, I love the way it turned out!
Jenna you are amazing using things about the house…What a fun project for the grands when they visit. Who knows we may end up with a whole pumpkin patch and I may run out of cloth. LOL Have a great week. Hugs
Thanks Kari, it’s a perfect project to do with your grands, it’s super easy and you can mix and match with all kinds of different fabrics!
Like Leslie Anne, I immediately thought of the pandemic. Those who over bought now have a use and those that didn’t are prepared for the next one. That is a creative use of household items for sure, Jenna.
Ha, I think toilet paper will be forever remembered as part of the pandemic! It’s a fun an easy craft, thanks Linda~
