Fearless Friday, Painted Fall Crafts
With the calendar turning quickly towards Fall,
let’s have some painting fun today
and paint a few Fall crafts!
This is a fun idea that anyone can do,
make a football field table topper for your football watching buffet

All you need is Freezer paper, masking tape and a little green paint
and you have a football field table topper

Place your freezer paper, coated side up,
on paper towels on a hard flat surface
Put evenly spaced masking tape across it
like the lines on a football field

Paint it green

When the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape
If any of the line edges get messed up,
just touch them up with a small brush
You can space the lines further apart
and add the 10 20 30 40 50 yard line numbers if you want to~
Now you’re ready to nosh and root for your team!

This Candy Corn Scarecrow is made with a wine bottle
and things in my craft stash
Good quality chalk paint is now available at affordable prices
in craft departments in many stores,
and I love it because it can cover in just one coat
Plus it dries quickly
so you don’t have a lot of waiting time between steps
Please forgive my messy desk in the background of these photos…
After the cream coat I added a coat of ochre chalk paint
to the bottle and started on the face
Give him a smile, cheeks, eyelashes, a candy corn nose
and tie a bow around the bottom
A piece of polka dot burlap ribbon wrapped around the bottle neck
and secured with twine will become part of his hat
A circle of felt hat makes the brim
A few wheat stalks and a felt topper finish his hat
You can also make a scarecrow out of a wooden candlestick
I drew some “trick or treaters” that I envisioned on the candlesticks

They were inspired by some MacKenzie-Childs figures

I painted the candlesticks white first
Wood balls in my craft supply were the perfect size for the heads
Glue them in place with a glue gun

I used some natural excelsior moss I had on hand
You could also use raffia, straw, cut felt, yarn, cut paper or colored paper
Give them hats like the one we made for the scarecrow bottle
using felt and a wine cork for this scarecrow
The witch hat is just a simple orange felt cone
glued to a black felt circle,
with a piece of spider web fabric coming out of the top point

Finish painting the bases
The scarecrow has sunflowers and stripes
and the witch patches of purple and green
and a playful mix of patterns
