Fearless Friday, Art Tutorials
There are many art classes and tutorials available online
They are a great way to learn,
practice and improve your art skills
One artist that I really like is The Frugal Crafter
She posts free videos and offers classes
in a variety of mediums and techniques
She painted the watercolor landscape below

Lately I have been watching a series of videos in
It started on Sept 23 and is open until Oct. 19
Different artists post videos of techniques they like to do
in their sketch books
and you can watch or follow along using their steps
in your own sketch book to try out their technique

I have seen some very different and creative methods!
I enjoyed this lesson, Happy Watercolor Florals
So bright and pretty!

One artist, Joy Ting Charde,
drew a forest of trees with different sticks and a toothpick,
it was very interesting to see her simple painting evolve
using these unorthodox “brushes”

Lucie Duclos demonstrates how to make a collage
with different papers and a black fine liner

This portraiture method is really cool,
the artist used a very limited color palette of 2-3 colors

Amy Maricle created beautiful sketch book pages with colored inks
and shapes drawn with ink, that are cut out and then glued down
She also added flaps to make the page interactive

Salli Swindell demonstrated how she makes her pages colorfully cohesive

This cat portrait with gouache paint is incredible!

This collage is created with paint, colored pencils, cut out shapes, and ink

This Zentangle technique fascinated me
It’s by Anita Gabrovec of Zen-linia.com
She went into detail about how to shade her designs
to really make them pop
After doing the initial zentangle design,
she used colored pencils and a white gel pen to add highlights
These images are from a free Ebook that she gives away
to the Sketchbook Revival visitors

The Sketchbook Revival 2024 is a free series of 30 videos
that are available until Oct. 19
You can access all the videos here
I hope you will watch some of the lessons,
try a new technique and be inspired!
Be Fearless!

Very nice Jenna!
Thanks Dorothy, Happy weekend!
It helps me so much to watch other people paint. Not so I can copy them, but so I can figure out how it’s done! Visual learner? YES! Thanks for the tips and links.
Artists learn from other artists! I took a painting class in college where we had to copy paintings done by the masters!
Great resources. I love watching others teach how to paint. Thank you for sharing so many.
I especially enjoy your tutorials.
Thank you Nancy, as artists, we learn from and inspire each other 🙂
Jenna, this was fascinating to read. I love watching artists “work” and all the different techniques were so interesting. Loved the Zentangle art. In that last picture, I never would have thought that that’s how it started out. Very neat. Happy Monday!
