Fearless Friday, Spooky Pumpkin

Today let’s draw a Spooky Pumpkin

This is very simple, all you need is a pencil, a few black liner pens

and a yellow and orange marker or colored pencils

For the black, I used a fine nib .05 black liner pen,

a .08 medium nib liner pen, and a large brushliner pen

Begin with a pencil sketch of the pumpkin

Add the face

Erase the lines through the eyes and mouth

Add a candle and lines to the eyes and mouth

so they become 3 dimensional

I went over the sketch with the .05 liner pen

and erased the pencil

Then I used the brush pen to add wider lines to the pumpkin groves

Next I used the .08 liner pen to add the shading

Now a little color

All done!

“Spooky Pumpkin” 5″ x 7″ pen, ink and marker on mixed media paper

Have some Spooky fun and

Be Fearless!

I always enjoy looking at your tutorials, but I think I will give this one a try! Looks do-able for me. I love the arts but have little talent for drawing.. Thanks for the easy step by step tutorial.

  3. Love your Halloween art!

I always enjoy your art tutorials, and admire your skill. I had to laugh when you said “begin with a pencil sketch of a pumpkin,” the assumption being that I could actually make a pencil sketch of a pumpkin. Honestly, I actually got private lessons from Danny Gregory, and found it was impossible for me to draw something as simple as a mug. There are some of us who are just artistically challenged.
