Oktoberfest!
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest. It combines a beer festival with a funfair and is held annually in Munich on the Theresienwiese
The event draws around seven million visitors each year. In 2023, attendance reached a record 7.2 million. Visitors consumed approximately 7.4 million litres of beer. The festival features amusement rides, games, food stalls, and traditional Bavarian dishes.
The first Oktoberfest was held on 12 October 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen.
My MIL was full German and to honor her memory,
let’s have a little celebration today
Beer and popcorn on the patio,
and a Sauage SauerKraut Ball or two
Perhaps a little Beer Cheese Fondue
Give your guests party favor bags of Harvest Snack Attack
Or a bag of Autumn Snack Mix
Treat a special guest with an Octoberfest Gift Basket
full of seasonal snacks and decor
Serve a Beer Cheese Soup Buffet

Pair the soup with a salad
Or Flatbread with Prosciutto and Apple

Welcome October!

Hard to believe it’s nearly October! Fun foods and time to get cozy, if the weather would just cooperate! It still feels like summer here.
haha, but be careful what you wish for!
Well, first off I have to say it was “Go Bama, Roll Tide” time yesterday. What a nail biter–congrats over there, Bama.
Secondly, I should point out that GA has its own Oktoberfest in Helen, GA. I have never been, but have chosen to visit Helen when it wasn’t so crowded. There’s always something there for all to enjoy. It’s also pretty in the Christmas season.
Of course the thing today that caught my eye on your blog was the red truck rolling through Autumn. I have my copy of your print and I shall put it out with all my fall trappings–it makes me think of my husband who had just such a truck, and all the sweet memories I have of him. I enjoy that print each year–thank you, Jenna for your talent, and for capturing a life memory that means so much to me. Happy Fall, dear friend. Georgia Gal
Thanks Georgia Gal, the game was a nail biter! I didm’t know about your Oktober, sounds like s much fun! I am so glad I bring you sweet memories through the

It all looks great – but that beer/popcorn mug is just the best! So clever, so much fun and so cute!
haha, thanks Jeanie!
Jenna, we were in Germany a couple of years ago as they were preparing for the festivities. You have included delicious and fun foods. The Autumn mix looks fabulous!
Last night was intense, Roll Tide 🅰️🏈
Thank you Pam, the Oktoberfests sound amazing!
Celebratory food fun for Oktoberfest Jenna! I’m ready for October’s arrival and some seasonal fall weather. 🍁🥧🍂☕️🎃
Tis your season Mary!
I had no idea Oktoberfest had such a long history dating back to an important event. Your festive ideas are certainly appealing. Just as “everyone is Irish” on St. Patrick’s Day, I guess we can all be of Germanic origins for Oktoberfest. 🍁
What a great idea, thank you Linda!
What a fun celebration! Your appetizers sound amazing and I love all your decorations.I’ve never been to an Octoberfest!!I always admire your watercolors! so lovely.
Thanks Judee!

Beer and popcorn so wonderful and creative! Proof that the best part of Oktoberfest can be treats!
Thanks Mary, it was fun learning about this tradition!
Love the little truck painting Jenna! Wonderful Oktoberfest recipes and I just had to pop back and pin the beer cheddar soup. The prosciutto and apple flatbread looks delicious too. Happy pumpkin season and soon to be October!
Thank you Kim for your very sweet comments, I so appreciate it! Beer Cheese Soup is one of my favorites, all that warm cheesy goodness!

I hope my comment didn’t come up anonymous….Kari
We had five family birthdays in October each year that we’d celebrate regularly when my in-laws were both still living. Since both my husband’s family and I had a lot of German heritage, we’d often have our own “oktoberfest” to celebrate, complete with lederhosen for the men! Such fun! I wish I’d had some of your festive recipes then! Such a fun post!
That sounds like so much fun Laura! Such a brilliant way for you all get together and celebrate your birthdays!
So many creative and festive ideas to celebrate the fall season! I always enjoy seeing your fabulous party tables and your lovely artwork! 🌻
Thanks Jill, Happy October!
Yes, it’s now October, but where is the October weather? For the past three weeks it has been in the upper 80s/low 90s, and I am half out of my mind! I am really getting tired of going out on the deck and watering the flowers every morning, but I still have hummingbirds, butterflies, and other such pollinators and I don’t want to let them down. I really would love to wear some fall clothes, but no. Still wearing my raggedy, summer clothes and grumbling about it.
haha, I think a lot of people are asking the same question!
Jenna, a whole lotta fun and yummy recipes. I love this time of year. Very festive ideas you are sharing. I am happy to feature your fun post today.
