My prayers are with all of those suffering from Hurricane Sandy, as I know yours are too…

I had so much Halloween fun in October I am sad to see it go…but I must confess I am weary of black & orange, witches & skeletons, and ghoulishness in general!  I made 8 things in October that were inspired by the October Paint Bucket. If you make a recipe list to try, don’t be afraid to go in another direction, use recipes for inspiration and general guidelines, but GET CREATIVE! Do what you are in the mood for!

These are the things I made in October.  Pumpkin Pie Martini, No Guilt Phyllo Pie, Warm Apple & Bleu Cheese Salad, The Crazy Italian, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Beer Cheese Soup, Harvest Snack Attack, and Pumpkin Walnut Spirals

Now it’s time for a more thankful focus and to concentrate on making our homes warm and inviting for the holidays.

The first of the month means a little general menu planning, some recipe gathering, and thinking about what’s coming up in November.  Cooler weather in the South and lots of rain will dictate comfort food style recipes.  Football season in high gear will mean lots of appetizers and snack foods, and an over the top tablescape for the Alabama/Auburn annual Iron Bowl game.  Last but not least, lots of Thanksgiving recipes, tabletops and ideas.
