Tablescapes, Cupcakes in the Candy Store

One of my favorite decorating themes at Christmas time is CANDY! Growing up it was all about candy for me, and my mom made me the most wonderful gingerbread house with all the trimmings which she kept in the freezer and brought out every year.  I have been collecting sweets for a while now and I thought it would be fun to kick off the season by making a little candy store tablescape…

Come on in!

Would you like a cupcake or a jelly donut?

Oh dear, I left my apron on the table!

There’s so much to choose from!

There is a large apothecary jar full of  lollipops and candy canes,

and a small candy jar full of peppermints….ohhh, I wonder what is in that silver wrapped gift?

Some candy cane holding Santas stand guard over a plate of cupcakes

on a sparkly silver dot cloth

Who would have thought that pink and purple placemats would work with Christmas decor?

Have some fun and mix things up!  You might just create a whole new look somewhere in your house!

I tossed some loose ornaments around on the silver cloth to fill in various spaces, and a few wrapped gifts guarantee excitement and anticipation!

This paper mache snowman is one of my very favorite treasures…I’m not sure why he’s wearing a bucket for a hat but he is holding a snowball…do you think he is planning a snowball fight?

He is an original sculpture by Penny MeAllister, a very talented folk artist who left us way too soon.  She was the inspiration behind so many of the wonderful whimsical holiday decorations you see everywhere today.  She was “Queen of the Polka Dots.”

He looks good standing by the tall gumdrop tree.  I have had this tree for 5 years, I just store it in a plastic bin with a lid in a closet.

Thanks for visiting my “Sweet Shoppe” I’m off to make some cupcakes!

These Chocolate Salted Caramel Cupcakes will be perfect!

Merry Decorating!

Thanks for visiting, stop by again soon.  Please leave me a comment so I know you were here!

HI!! I totally LOVE your tablascape! This is going to be my theme for this year and your table is such an inspiration! where did you get those cupcakes? I collect them too and seems like I never have enough of them…it’s just lovely. Hope mine looks at least a bit close to yours! Thank You for posting!

    • I got the ceramic cupcakes this summer from Overstock.com, set of 4 with 4 matching plates…I have had lots of fun with them already! The cupcake ornaments I have bought here and there over the years. Have fun decorating!
