Tablescapes, Vietri Old St. Nick

I recently saw these plates at Home Goods
they reminded me of the beautiful Vietri “Old St. Nick” plates.
At $4.99 they seemed like a steal compared to the real Vietri plate at about $60 each~and I knew they would mix and match well with some Santa plates and Snowman plates I already had…I’m so thrifty!
For Cuisine Kathleen’s Let’s Dish December Table top challenge of recreating a table top from a photograph, I decided to use this photo from Vietri’s website for my inspiration.
I thought the flowers were stunning so I started there~my sweet husband actually gave me some red roses over the weekend for an early birthday surprise~today is my birthday!Â
I added some seasonal greens and lime chrysanthemums that I got at Costco. I love to buy flowers at Costco, they are always fresh and very affordable. Stick a bucket in your car with a little water if you’re going to be out doing errands for a while
I don’t have red vases so I just added a strip of red shiny wrapping paper to the rims of over-sized apothecary jars that serve as vases
I also stuck a large lime glittered pick in each arrangement just for an extra pop
In another Vietri website photo, below, you can see hand painted Old St. Nick ornaments
I love the ornaments in the mugs so I decided to incorporate that idea too. I painted red shatterproof ornaments, you can see the tutorial here
I used my Mud Pie salad plates for the green striped plates like in Vietri photo and used red polka dot bowls.
It is an eclectic mix, but that’s my style and I took some liberties here to incorporate things I already had. The red napkins have gold stars and silver dots and are my official Christmas napkins that I have used for many years.
The napkins really clash with the pink toned floral chairs so I ultimately moved them to the top of the plate stack instead of hanging down under the chargers. I kept the wood table bare as in the Vietri photo, used black chargers and instead of one large deer, I used several.
This holiday table runner helps tie in the deep red of my dining room rug with the bright reds and the lime greens that I love, plus has the more traditional greens of the season.
White mugs, red glass based cocktail glasses, and hand painted flutes from Pier 1 are my interpretation of the red glasses on the Vietri table.
The inspiration table didn’t have candles but I couldn’t resist adding these mercury glass goblets with sparkly red candles
the Vietri table had burlap gift sacks at each place
but I used a burlap wrap instead for the napkins
to introduce a casual woodland feel
This table is all set for a Birthday dinner!
I wonder what we’re having…HH and HHjr are in charge….I loved setting the table…maybe they’ll do the dishes too!
Thanks so much for stopping by and joining in my birthday fun!

Thank you! Yes, they did the dishes!
Love that you showed the tables side by side! You did a great job, and the end result was so pretty!
I agree about the HG vs Vietri plates! HG I can afford, not Vietri.
Happy Birthday ! Thanks so much for taking the challenge at Let’s dish!
Thanks so much Kathleen, it was tons of fun~
Happy Birthday! I have to say — I like your version better than the one in the ad — so much more creative!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday Jenna! You have created a very lovely table, The spirit of Christmas jumps out of the photos of your table even more so than that original table The hand painted ornaments are the perfect final touch in keeping with the feel and tone of the original.

You should send a link to your post to the Vietri website. Your hand painted Santa ornaments are fabulous. Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel should contract you.
Happy Birthday!!
thank you Bonnie! I appreciate the sweet comments, I might just do that!
Happy Birthday Jenna! I just absolutely love your copy of the Vietri table! You are right–those HG plates are wonderful. I saw only one in my local shop but I’m going back now!! The ornaments are incredible. You are so clever!! Beautiful table! Linda

You did such a GREAT job of interpreting your inspiration table. I love all your elements. Thank you for posting side-by-side pictures. A truly winning table!! Rosie
P.S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Thank you Rosie!
Golly! I love all your little items up and down the table. Did you have most of those items already??? You certainly stood up to the challenge!
You’re right about the plates. They’re great – and for a whole lot less money.
Merry Christmas
hi Denise, yes I had everything on the table, all I bought was the Santa plates and the flowers. Thanks so much for visiting!
Happy Birthday, Jenna! I love your copycat design and it’s much more affordable!! Yea for thriftiness. I love the addition of your sparkly candles in the mercury glass. However, it’s your hand painted ornaments that I’m swooning over. They’re just darling, Jenna. What an artist you are and an inspiration yourself.
What a nice starting point with the Vietri photo! You did a lovely job of interpreting it. I love your arrangements in the vases. Happy Birthday!
Thank you Liz!
Wonderful! I also love all things Vietri, but don’t have any due to the price. You did a great job on your interpretation of their table.
Thanks Bev!
Wow, I wish I’d seen those Vietri copycat plates, too! Great job creating your table from the inspiration photo — even down to the handpainted ornaments! Lots of good tips you shared, too!
Thanks so much Tricia!
Vietri is trippin’!!! I wish I would pay $60 for a plate!!! Your version is just as cool and keeps peace in the family! 🙂 I didn’t see those plates at any of our local Home Goods stores. The pickings seemed a bit slimmer this year. Or maybe I just got in there too late. Yup…that’s probably it!
Marvelous job, darling!!!! Very creative and fun interpretation of the photo!
Thanks Alycia, I think I bought those plates in late October, just got lucky! Thanks so much for the kind words!
Bravo! I love Vietri’s Old St. Nick, but I think your table is the “cat’s meow!” Love your vases filled with greens and red roses, and your stack of adorable plates. Your ornaments are too. What a talented lady you are!
Beautiful tablescape and I love your birthday flowers. Happy Birthday!!
I obviously haven’t been to Home Goods enough lately as I’ve completely missed these plates. As you might guess, I’m crazy about your mix of patterns which make the table festive and fun as well as interesting.
Do your copycat plates have any info on the back?
hi Kendra, sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I was out of town. On the back of the plates it says White Santa, designed by Maxcera, made in China
