Party Panache, Cook Your App Off #3

DD’s annual Cook Your App Off Party is coming up next week so we have been busy getting ready
We got the idea for this party from the popular Food Network show, Chopped, where the contestants are given a basket of mystery ingredients to prepare a finished dish. We change it up a little every year to keep things interesting
The invitation from the first year looked like an open refrigerator or pantry and guests had to choose 3 ingredients from different shelves
Every year the dishes improve and guests know that presentation is just as important as taste
How about nut crusted mini cheese balls skewered on a pineapple? Wow!
or homemade guacamole garnished with fresh lime, herbs and flowers~ so visually appealing!
We provide dessert to match the theme
Last years theme was Summer Beach Fun and the ingredients the guests had to choose from were, pretzels, artichokes, beer, pears, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, peanuts, coconut, baguette, and spinach
This year we are using ORANGE for the theme COLOR and guests must bring an appetizer using one of these orange ingredients. They can add any other ingredients they want, but must feature one of these
We are going to re-purpose a lot of the things we used for the recent Family Reunion, same decor, different guests, equals money and time saved
We are going to serve Blue Moon Beer with orange slices and Blue Moon Cupcakes for dessert
Which ingredient would you choose: cheese, shrimp, BBQ or sweet potato chips, carrots, peaches, mac and cheese, orange marmalade, goldfish, orange peppers, orange juice~
What would you make? Just scroll to the bottom and leave me a comment, it will be fun to compare what y’all would make to what the guests bring!

Delicious fun Jenna, such a fun theme! So smart to recycle your orange props and decor too! I would have bring something with summer peaches, I’ve seen so many interesting recipes lately. Looking forward to seeing and sampling your party apps 🙂
What a fun, fun idea! Love it.
What a fun idea! You do the cutest things!!! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Jenna, this sounds like so much fun! Such a clever idea. I can’t wait to see what everyone makes. I think I’d make shrimp spread, just because I love eating it. I could spread it on Ritz crackers – they are kind of orange. laurie
What a fun idea! I’d stuff those pretty little peppers and might just use a peach/BBQ sauce with it too. I’m sure you’ll all have a blast:@)
Hi Jenna – What a fun party and you have every single detail perfect! I expect an invitation next year. Hugs, Holly
I love the name! So creative. Can’t wait to see more pics.
Would you believe appetizers are my most least favorite things to make. When someone asks if they can bring something to our house, I always ask for appetizer.
Wow! What a fun, party! I love each and every presentation…..the cheese balls skewered on a pineapple, how creative! The guacamole tray looks o yummy, and colorful:) I think I would love to bring shrimp toast as an appetizer, so much crunchy goodness:) ~hugs, Poppy
How fun! What creative ideas you come up with. Orange is a fun color and flavor to wrap your theme around – love the name, too. 😉
Sounds Like such fun! I would make carrot-raisin salad. MY hubby loves it.
What a fun and neat idea! I think it would be fun to do as a blog party too. Thanks for sharing on Merry Monday.
Thanks for the sweet comments Erlene, it is my pleasure to share on Merry Monday!
