Party Panache, And the winner for Best Picture is…

Are you going to watch the Academy Awards tonight?
The nominees for BEST PICTURE are: American Sniper, Birdman, Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imagination Game, Selma, The Theory of Everything, Whiplash
I do love the Oscars, the tradition, the glamour, and the hoopla~so I think it’s fun to gather round the TV with a sophisticated treat or two
The foyer is set up for a buffet of small bites to enjoy in nearby comfy chairs in front of the TV
The nominees for Best Picture are written on the table runner for easy reference
Help yourself to some popcorn
and I’ll get you a drink~
You don’t have to wear black tie
I’ll give you one to use~
Have you seen any of the movies? Which ones were GOOD?
Help yourself to a Red Carpet Cocktail while the Zucchini Crust Pizza is baking
Be sure to grab a bingo card, they are hilarious
I printed mine from al.com here
or print out individual ballots here
For dessert you can have a golden cake “Statue”
my version of the Oscar ^^’
These cakes are super moist and effortless, you can whip them up this afternoon~
Yellow cake mix, eggs, butter, almond extract and vanilla~ you can add sour cream but I needed it for something else, so I used buttermilk instead
Mix everything together and bake it in any kind of pan you like, cupcake, mini muffin, bundt
I wanted little individual golden statues 🏆
Remember that cakes expand so adjust filling and cooking time will vary according to pan size
What will you be wearing on the Red Carpet tonight?

Hollywood Gold Cakes
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 3 eggs room temperature
- 2 tsps Almond emulsion or extract
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- 1 cup non fat buttermilk
Instructions
- Mix everything together for 2-3 minutes until you have a smooth batter.
- Pour into well greased and floured pan and bake according to pan size, and remove from oven when cake is just set. Cake is better a little under cooked rather than over. Cool in pan 20 minutes and remove.
- Ice with your favorite icing, or ready made icing. This batter makes enough for 1 double layer cake, or 1 bundt cake, or 16-24 cupcakes, or 36-48 mini cup cakes
Juicy Details
These little cakes can be tricky to frost so I used a squeeze frosting bottle and filled them with some icing from the bottom, so the icing is inside the cake, surprise!

I used frosting from a local bakery, Dreamcakes, available at a local grocery [Western, Rocky Ridge]

Love your dippers and little golden cakes Jenna and I’m always up for some popcorn when movie watching. I saw an Imitation Game/ Benedict Cucumberbatch 🙂 cocktail yesterday on Pinterest, I need to break out the gin!
No, I’ll be watching Downton Abbey and Grantchester. We never go to the movies. Enjoy your party!
Thanks Kathleen, I’ll be taping DA and Grantchester for watching later this week~ we never go to the movies either, just watch On Demand~
Wow!! Looks like I just missed the party! Looks like a lot of fun and yummy!!
I would have loved to be at your party. Love all of the fun details!
Thanks Sandra, much appreciated!
I love the wire glitter coming out of the champagne bottle! Love the bingo idea to keep guests occupied while they watch.
Would you believe I completely forgot about the Academy Awards which really didn’t upset me too much. When I saw the winners I was surprised by how many movies/actors I was unfamiliar with.
Jenna, you do the BEST theme parties of anyone. Every detail is perfection. That bingo card is such a fun idea. I was laughing out loud just reading it. I can imagine how fun it would be if I was playing it with a group of AW watchers. The table runner is fab.
Oh what a fun table! You did a lot of work for this! I only watch the Oscars- since I love movies! I haven’t seen any of the new movies- gotten lazy about going to the theaters! Those cakes are so neat- love the shape and the Bingo cards are too fun. I really enjoyed the Oscars this year- the stage was beautifully done, rich in color and everything a hollywood presentation should be!
This is so fun! I love the idea of printing off ballots and having everyone vote beforehand! Thanks so much for linking up with Talented Tuesday and we hope to see you back this week!
What fun treats, I hope you had a good night. Thanks for linking up to Sweet and Savoury Sunday, stop by and link up again. Have a great day!! Laura@Baking in Pyjamas
