Tablescapes, Gather ‘Round the Maypole

Come gather round the Maypole and celebrate Spring!
May Day, May 1, is a celebration throughout the Northern hemisphere, 6 months from November 1, marking the end of the “uncomfortable” winter half of the year and the last of the Spring festivals before Summer
Mayday is known for celebrations around a tall pole with long ribbons for people to grab as they frolic and skip around it, weaving an intricate pattern over the pole
This Maypole is a small faux rose topiary draped with ribbon shreds and flower ribbons
Instead of skipping ’round, we’ll be dining ’round the pole
Mayday is also celebrated with flowers, flower crowns, wreaths, and baskets, representing the abundance of spring flowers and the coming of summer
A Mayday flower basket awaits at each place~
The baskets are paper boxes, shaped like take-out containers
Inside is a blue or green jar full of daisies, poms and azaleas
With some green moss tucked around the neck
A lovely little party favor!
The place settings alternate between green chargers and blue plates, and blue chargers with green plates
And bright pink napkins in daisy rings
Mayday is also traditionally served with cake
Hmmmm, what kind would you make?
Be sure to take time to celebrate!

Reminds me of “back in the day” school days. We always wrapped the May Pole and wore new May Day dresses. What wonderful memories this brings back. Thanks for sharing. Love it as always…

What a festive and colorful table. I remember celebrating Mayday in kindergarten with a giant Maypole of whoch the kids all walked around holding streamers. Thank you for sharing your fun table and for jarring some old memories of such a happy time growing up.
