Tablescapes, Sentimental Journey

This time of year we celebrate several anniversaries
It’s important to remember to Enjoy the journey as life takes us to unexpected places…
To celebrate our wedding anniversary last week, I set a little sentimental table for 2
One of the special elements of this table was the thankful plates
Concentrating on being grateful gives me strength and joy, and combining my favorite things and memories into a table setting is icing on the cake
Summer blue and white hydrangeas in the center vase flanked by matching candlesticks
They were surprise Christmas gifts from my husband over the past several years…he’s a very smart guy...
I love the gold polka dots on the ceramic pieces echoed on the table runner
The runner has a pair of seahorses at each end, perfect for our table for 2 💑
A blue bowl for him
a white bowl for me
A jellybean margarita, just for fun
Our wedding silver, linen napkins, and gold trimmed glasses that belonged to HH’s parents
We dined on our long time favorites, Marinated Filet Mignon topped with Blender Bearnaise Sauce, fresh green beans, and Italian Fries
You’ll want to keep these recipes handy for your own special occasion

Blender Bearnaise
Ingredients
- 10 sprigs fresh tarragon leaves stripped off stems and chopped
- 2 shallots
- 1/4 cup champagne vinegar
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 stick unsalted butter melted
- sea or kosher salt
- freshly ground pepper
Instructions
- Make bearnaise reduction: in a small sauce pan, over medium high heat, combine 1/2 of tarragon, shallots, vinegar and wine and bring to a simmer. Cook until reduced by half. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Blend yolks with bearnaise reduction in a blender, or with an immersion blender, with blender running on a medium speed, add 1/3 of melted butter in a slow steady stream. Once it has emulsified {blended in} turn blender up to high and add the rest of the butter. Add remaining tarragon, season with salt and pepper, blend quickly once more and set aside. Keep warm until serving
- Makes about 1 cup
Eat, drink and give thanks~
And remember to enjoy the journey…

A lovely table to celebrate you anniversary Jenna. I like the way you think, being grateful, strength and joy! Yes, we need to enjoy the journey. The food looks delicious…………..
Thanks Emily~ >
Jenna, Happy Anniversary! We just had ours, also, but we didn’t have such scrumptious food or a pretty and happy table! The filet looks and sounds delicious. Hope you are having some cooler temps or at least can hop in the ocean! Linda
We don’t really go all out any more, but I love an excuse to celebrate something! >
I would have to agree that HH is indeed a pretty smart guy if he buys McKenzie-Childs! Hope your anniversary was lovely and sweet, and that there will be many more to come.
the funny thing is that I asked him for one candlestick, thinking that was extravagant enough, and when the box came he was shocked that there was only one, he thought it was a set of two, and thought he made a mistake so he ordered another one! Then the next year totally surprised me with the vase…I usually give him a pretty detailed list though, just to be on the safe side… 🙂 >
Happy Anniversary to you and your sweetheart, Jenna! I love that you celebrated in such pretty style. Enjoy those happy times together.
Thanks Kitty~ >

Oh, Jenna, what a lovely post today! Happy Anniversary!! Your table is festive and romantic (love the soft colors with pops of gold!) I made copies of all the recipes and will definitely plan the same menu on our next special occasion. Thank you for starting my day this way! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Your meal looks finer than most any from a restaurant! 🙂 Happy Anniversary! Beautiful tablescape, love the vase and candlesticks! Rhonda
Thank you Rhonda! My husband always tells me he’d rather eat at home than go out because the foods so much better. Although, that sometimes does NOT work in my favor 🙂 I am delighted he thinks so >
Happy anniversary, Jenna and Mr. Painted Apron and many more! (Ours was on the 30th) Aqua is my favorite color for tablescapes…yours is beautiful. Love the table runner. Yummy looking dinner, too.
Thanks Marigene, and happy anni to you too! Lots of July weddings! >
Happy anniversary Jenna! Your table is amazing. I love the Mckenzie-Childs. The colors are beautiful!!
Happy Anny Jenna! And I wish I had a big plate of Italian fries in front of me now:@)

Thanks Sherry! >
Very sweet! Happy anniversary!
thank you! >
Happy Anniversary Jenna! We’re celebrating ours in a couple of weeks, but I’m hoping someone else will set the table and serve the dinner 🙂 I love the whimsy of your table with your free form bowls, paint-splattered seaside runner, and soft aqua paired with your gold and white! Your hubby is an excellent shopper.:)
Happy Anniversary! What a nice sentimental table. I like how you displayed the runner. I always have problems with those because they’re usually too long for my tables. The dinner looked yummy and that bearnaise sauce sounds wonderful! Kudos to hubby on the candlesticks and vase!
Thanks Liz, I use that runner trick all the time~ I think I have more runners than placemats! >
Happy anniversary Jenna! Love those sea horse table runners, they were the first thing that caught my eye on this pretty coastal table setting. I just love all of the blues that you have used. Hubby and I celebrated our wedding anniversary last week too.
Happy Anniversary to you too Candy! I really didn’t need the table runner, but when I found it on super sale, I just couldn’t resist and since I’ve already used it in two tablescapes, maybe I did need it! Ha! Have a great week~ >
Beautiful colors in this tablescape. That blue is so pretty paired with the gold and white. Happy Anniversary! Have a great week….
Thanks Christine, I love aqua and gold~ >
What a beautiful way to celebrate your anniversary, Jenna. I LOVE the jellybean margaritas! That’s an example of why I love your style so much…always so fun and festive, and it’s clear to me that you do enjoy the journey. Hope you and hubby had a great anniversary and thank you so much for sharing the spoon necklace and the links back to my blog and shop.

Oh, sweet! It was my pleasure!! >
