[…] A watermelon table with a painted apron! […]
Jenna, I love your cheery watermelon table! I never thought about how the slices looked liked smiles…your flip flops as napkin rings bring a smile to my face. 🙂 One our favorite ways to enjoy watermelon is so simple and so good~ cut and served with chunks of salty feta cheese, chopped fresh basil and a squeeze of lime juice. Hope your guys’ fishing tournament didn’t get rained out 🙂
Thanks Mary! The fishermen dodged the storms and got their limit the past two days, so they are happy and as full of stories as the freezer 🎏
I love to eat watermelon just like it is. Especially in the heat of summer. So refreshing. It is a fun smile too ! Ps hope I win the apron 😝🍉
I agree, I feel the same way about fresh summer corn 🌽
I’m from North Carolian and we like to eat Watermelon outsid, so you can spit out the seeds. But my favorite is watermelon rind pickles, what a southern delicacy.
I forgot about watermelon rind pickles!
Jenna, I love all things watermelon! Such a pretty table , and yes the slices do look like smiles! Happy Sunday!
Thanks Pam, happy Sunday to you too!
I love your watermelon table and I am feeling a watermelon themed party coming my way! I remember having watermelon seed spitting contests at family gatherings as a child.
That sounds like fun, thanks Rebecca!
The story that sticks in my mind is one my mom told me so many, many years ago….While eating watermelon as a child I swallowed seeds and cried and cried thinking I would have a melon growing in my belly….My mother reassured me that it wouldn’t happen..but for the longest time I slept on my belly ,trying to keep it from growing!!!!!!
oh, that’s adorable, you poor thing!
The instant I saw this table I smiled. Such a happy table. Loving the colors. Again, you are so talented. I simply loved everything but those chargers are a real standout! You painted them? Do you ever sell items like the chargers, if so I would be very interested. I don’t have a particular watermelon story but we all enjoy it here at my home. Have a happy and wonderful week.
Thanks Valerie, I haven’t ever made chargers to sell, but these are easy enough to make yourself, you’ll find the tutorial on the blog
Jenna, you make painting look so easy! Watermelon salad is my favorite, and I serve it at all of my al fresco dinners when friends visit. I plate a 1″ circular slab of watermelon per person (rind removed) and top each slice with 4 slices of fresh mozzerella, and a mixture of chopped mint, basil, almonds and walnuts. Dress with olive olive and coarse salt. Delicious!
Those are the cutest chargers.I would be happy to wear that watermelon apron 🙂 Thanks for visiting my Traveling Tote post. Would love for you to join us if you get the tote.
Wow, I bet that salad is a show stopper at parties, I’ll have to try it asap!! Thanks Debra
Hi, Jenna! Absolutely LOVE your table, and you chargers came out beautifully!! My favorite watermelon story was watching my first granddaughter have her very first taste at about one year old. She wasn’t sure when she felt it in her hand (odd texture, I’m sure), but the minute she put it into her mouth, her eyes lit up and she couldn’t get enough. She’s 10 years old now, and it’s still one of her favorite foods!! Watermelon always signal summer to me and many happy memories. That watermelon apron would surely be a hit at my birthday bbq in July!! Take care, and thanks for the opportunity! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Thanks Rosie, watermelon is such a great treat for kids, what a cute story!
How absolutely perfect for the season. Love this table for many reasons, first I love watermelon, not only for the way it tastes but for the way it looks. Love the dishes but the cloth is my favorite, love it. Great centerpiece. I love the fun tables capes you do Jenna!
Have a great week.
Thanks Emily! I just got the cloth at HomeGoods a few weeks ago…it was the last thing I needed, but it was so cute I couldn’t resist!
Your rhyme posts are always so enjoyable, but this one is even better since it’s topped off with a give-away. The apron is awesome! Good luck to all your entries and Happy Monday!
Thanks Kim, happy week to you too
soooo fun and colorful!!! Happy Summer!!!
happy summer to you too Christine, thanks for stopping by
Your table is so much fun, I am loving it! My favorite thing about watermelon…its a cut and eat yummy food. No fuss, no muss. Plus there are so many different things you can do with it, cut a hole and use a small hand blender, blend it up and pout in liquor and insert a straw. LOL
The ultimate summer cocktail. Have a great day!
Ha, now you’re talkin! I’ve got to go get a straw! Thanks Christine >
I love your watermelon table! I want to paint some of those chargers, I have a large serving bowl that looks like a 1/2 watermelon, given to me years ago by a dear friend who was moving away. My granddaughter loves watermelon, this is a good reminder to me to get that bowl out and use it!
Your setting makes me want to cry and smile at the same time. Oh how I miss Summers at the lake with my grandparents and mom, eating watermelon and visiting. They were perfect. You have a beautiful home.
Oh my, your tablescapes just blow me away, and this was another spectacular one! Love it all, from the pretty, unique centerpiece, plates, fun tablecloth, and the apron! And that apron is a wonderful give-away! Some recipient will be very lucky! 🙂 ~Rhonda
Aww…everything looks so cute!
I would love for you to add this to my Recipes and Crafts Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/pluckyrecipescraftstips/
Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
Awe…I adore your watermelon tablescapes and all the extra pretties you have going on there. Such a delightful post. Oh I guess my favorite watermelon recipe would have to be my grandmother’s watermelon rind preserves. Some of my fondest memories of watermelons is sitting a picnic table with my grandparents and my Papa would ALWAYS cut out the heart of the watermelon for me cause he said, “Baby, you are Papa’s heart”. What wonderful memories. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Oh goodness Cindy, that makes me cry it’s so sweet!
Gifted…you are just gifted! 🙂
Happy Thoughts of Home friend.
Thank you Stacey, you’re the best hostess! >
When I was little my uncle told me never to eat watermelon because the seeds will grow a giant watermelon in your belly & make you fat. I didn’t eat watermelon for a long time until someone told me it wasn’t true. Ha! I’ve ate a ton of it since.
ha! too funny!
I love your watermelon table.
My father grew watermelons as a farmer, so they hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you for being at Thoughts of Home.
I’m smiling. This post is so cute from your rhyme to every detail. I like your flowers with slices of watermelon and lime. I feel refreshed with your cheery table and thoughts of eating refreshing watermelon.
The view from your porch and darling tablescape is so nice it would be hard to get up from the table.
I don’t have a particular watermelon story but eating watermelon in the summer was always enjoyable and still is.
Thank you Bonnie! I love the smaller seedless ones you can buy now, so you don’t have to deal with the giant melons. Stay cool– >
Supercute, Jenna! I set a similar table last year with the kiddos, but never posted it…aren’t those watermelon dishes fun!!? Love your apron! 🙂
Watermelons are my favorite summer snack. What a lovely giveaway and beautiful, summer setting.
Your table is too cute, and of course I love your rhyming words! I love a watermelon salad with feta and fresh mint…so refreshing. The apron is adorable, Jenna!
