Fearless Friday, Jester

It’s all about Mardi Gras here this week, local parades this weekend thru Fat Tuesday
Even CC caught the Mardi Gras bug and did an abstract watercolor in purple, green and gold…obviously inspired by the colors she saw all around her
I’ve had so much fun crocheting lately and I was itching to start a new project but I didn’t have any more yarn…
I did have an array of colored pencils and markers
I decided to do a sketch and plan out a design for a needlepoint painted canvas
Have you ever looked at hand painted needlepoint canvases? Yikes, they can be pricey!
I looked at my Pinterest Needlepoint Board and spotted this Mardi Gras Santa which was offered on eBay several years ago. I don’t know the origin of the 5″ x 7″ mini canvas but it sold on eBay for $68!
I also loved this jester I saw on Life and Linda’s Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler tablescape
I decided to combine elements from both and make my own Mardi Gras jester
I was planning to just do a quick sketch and then transfer it to a needlepoint canvas
I got carried away with the whimsy and detailing his outfit with a black ink pen
And then I had to add color…the lighter areas are done with colored pencil, and the dark areas with markers
And then, just for kicks, I decided to see how he would look on some things from my Society6 Shop
A framed art print is only $30!
And how about a seasonal bath mat, crazy fun!
And you can be sure I will be sporting a jester iPhone case or skin next year!
So I ultimately got carried away and haven’t painted the needlepoint canvas yet, but it’s pretty easy and I will share the steps with you soon, I can’t wait to start stitching!
Be Fearless and have some fun, you never know where it will lead you!
Some notes on Society6:
They often have sales and special promotions. I will be sure to pass the info along when they tell me in advance
You can make a wish list on the site and have everything at your fingertips when it goes on sale or free shipping
Check the shop often though, because sometimes the deals are spontaneous and I don’t get advance notice
The prices are very reasonable even at full price~
Quality is amazing, I have bought totes, pillows, stationary cards, iPhone cases, a lap top sleeve and a bath mat and love them all!
There is still time to enter my giveaway here, winner will be announced Sunday Feb 26

Jenna, can’t wait to see your “Jester” needlepoint canvas. It will be wonderful.
Thanks Sandy, I’m hoping to get started on it today! >
You are way too talented!!! Love the Jester!!…Will you be doing pillows in that image?
Have a great weekend!!
Thanks Shirley! Yes, I plan on doing pillows, but I need to do a larger version as this one wasn’t sized correctly for pillows. The different products require different sizes. I would love to have this on a pillow myself, so it is in the works! I will let you know. Thanks so much for your support and I hope you love the geranium pillow. I gave the geranium tote to a friend and I loved it {so did she} Happy weekend! >
P.S. I ordered your Geranium pillow…can’t wait to get it!
Look at you creating and having fun!!! YAY!
So fun for you Jenna to be able to translate your art to products! Enjoy your Mardi Gras celebrations this weekend 🙂
