Fearless Friday, Summer Sand Dollar Flag

Not much time for painting this week because I have been hauling tableware, baking cakes, harvesting pineapples, making signs & menus,
lounging in the South Pacific
I also hung around Bloody Mary’s Bali Ha’i Bar
But!
I did have time to put together a summer flag for Memorial Day
I started with a rustic wooden palette/sign
Red, white & blue acrylic paint, and sand dollars
Look closely, the sand dollars are actually stars
Next some red stripes in a wavy stroke
The texture of this wood is so rough that straight stripes and solid color is impossible so I decided just to embrace that and make my flag intentionally look weathered
White stripes were added in between the red
This was a super quick project
The wooden flag is great for decorating the entry, heavy enough not to blow around
A festive patriotic welcome!
Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Perfect for this weekend at your Beach home. Love it!!
Jenna, I LOVE your flag!! It looks like it is waving in the breeze — much more interesting than the usual wooden wall flag, I think. I think I could really enjoy harvesting pineapples and snorkeling for sand dollars! Enjoy your weekend with your family! Linda
I love this, Jenna! Wish I could find that perfect piece of wood! On a hunt!
I got it at Walmart if you want to simplify your hunt!

Oh, my goodness, I love this! And of course, I have sanddollars sitting around. Some I found myself at Alligator Point back when I was in middle school! We came upon a bed of them and I scooped them up by the handfuls and have saved them all these years!
You are the queen of cleverness! You’ll see this on pinterest many times. So clever and very neat especially for the beach.
oh, thank you sweet Bonnie! >
