Take-out Tuesday, Easiest Ever Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole

This recipe is right up there with the easiest thing I’ve ever made, and it’s perfect for busy days year round, but in the summertime using the slow cooker keeps the kitchen much cooler than turning on the oven
Our whole family was at the beach house last week, and I have to tell you that planning the meals in advance made the whole week very easy breezy
The menu was posted in the kitchen, and I got a kick out of watching everybody refer to it at various times during the week…
I overheard, “Oh good, we’re having BBQ pork tonight, and green bean casserole, I love that~”
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and watermelon were paired with the green bean casserole for the night of the 4th, to make things extra easy on that busy day π πΊπΈ
First add the McCormick Country Gravy mix and water to the slow cooker and stir. I’d never tried this packaged gravy mix before and it is goooood
Add fresh green beans, stir and cover~ Cook for 1 hour on high, and go play princess or something…
If you peek at the beans after an hour you won’t believe this is going to turn out right, but have faith!
Just go for a boat ride and let the magic happen
After 3 hours on high, stir beans around in the luscious creamy gravy and then cover them with french fried onions
Continue cooking with lid off for 10 minutes to heat onions, then let everyone help themselves
Fresh Gourmet brand Crispy Onions are delicious straight out of the bag, as are Trader Joe’s Fried Onion pieces, so serve a bowl of them on the side for adding extra to the green beans when serving
This recipe was adapted from McCormick’s Slow Cooker Cheesy Broccoli Casserole

Speedy Slow Cooker Green Bean Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb. fresh green beans washed and trimmed
- 2 packages McCormick Country Gravy Mix
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups fried onions
Instructions
- Put dry gravy mix into a sprayed slow cooker.
- Add water and stir well. Add beans and stir.
- Cover and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring after 1 hour if possible.
- After 3 hours top beans with fried onions and let cook uncovered for 10 more minutes to heat onions.
- Serve with additional onions on the side if desired. Makes 6-8 servings
I’m pinning this to my Thanksgiving Pinterest Board to remember it for the winter holidays when oven space is at a premium
This is not a sponsored post, the brands mentioned are just personal preferences

Love the short cut and slow cooker for busy summer days Jenna! I’ve had TJ’s Fried Onion pieces and they’re so good. I’ll have to look for the Fresh Gourmet brand. Your princess is adorable π
Jenna, I like the variation of the gravy for the green bean slow cooker casserole. Your princess is darling and a boat ride sounds like a winner any day!
One to try! Your little gal looks so cute! Love her tiara and gown!
Thanks Lynn, she is quite the princess! Let me know how you like the recipe if you make it >
What a doll! How fun to see children playing “pretend”. Her outfit is complete, right to the earrings ~ too cute! I will try this for sure as we love the original version with cream of mushroom soup, but my husband loves country gravy, so this should be a winner too! Thanks!
Thanks Cynthia! I love the mushroom soup version, but this country gravy is really good, I hope he loves it~ >
….and go play princess or something. Love it. That’s my kind of cooking – pinned (another)! Thank you for fast, easy and delicious.
I will be making this a lot, the original recipe called for broccoli so Iβm going to try that too~ >
I love that you used fresh green beans – this looks like a winner any time of year! Thanks for sharing, Jenna! π
I love that you use fresh beans and gravy mix instead of mushroom soup. Hubby loves – I despise. LOL!
Sounds good. Haven’t used fresh beans before or the slow cooker. I do add a can of fancy chinese vegetables in my green bean casserole. It add a little crunch and is a surprise to most people.
