Fearless Friday, Watercolor

Tell me, what do you see?
With flowers in mind, I dropped spots of watercolor on a paper that had been dampened randomly
Tilt the paper to create runs and drips
I quickly used a brush to spread some of the larger drops into shapes
I had photos of different flowers to refer to as I painted
This shape on the the far left brought a rose to mind
I added petals and a stem
leaves and color
In the large yellow area on the right I saw a sunflower
I added a dark center
darker petals
then more petals, in a lighter shade
Then black details, a stem, and leaves
Next to the sunflower I saw the pink dots as Larkspur
More spots for blooms, and green petals and stems
A Cone Flower was added to balance the composition, and abstract Black-eyed Susans in the lower right
Grass filled in the bottom, and this quick sketch was done
It’s fun to let go and just see what happens!
Be Fearless!

thanks Patty Anne!
I love how free your work is, Jenna. Fearless — I need to work on that! I will have time to paint this weekend and I’m going to try this as an exercise in loosening up. I just hope I can see the flowers through the drips! If not, then it will be a colorful abstract!
Have fun this weekend painting Jeanie! I haven’t had time to do much lately, too busy catching up on other things, but hope to spend a creative few days next week!
Love your fearless art, it’s absolutely beautiful…….
thanks Emily! Have a great weekend with your guests!
Absolutely beautiful! I hope you frame that one.
thank you Anne!
I love “watching” you paint – you certainly are a talented artist!!
thank you Patti, a great compliment coming from a fellow painter!
A few splatters and wala…a beautiful painting. Lovely Jenna!!
thanks Sharon, it was one of those paintings that I didn’t like at first but after stepping away for a while I changed my mind…do you ever do that?
HI Jenna – I do that all the time, stepping always helps. I usually take a walk when I’m struggling with an idea and by the time I get back I’ve revolved the issue.
Wow! How pretty is that! You are SO talented! Will that become a tote or a pillow?
I wasn’t planning on it but if you think I should I would be glad too, thanks Cyndi!
You are soooo creative and talented, Jenna! Those splatters of paint sure brought forth such loveliness by YOU!
thanks Kitty, it was fun to “play”
Just gorgeous Jenna! LOVE FF. Have a great weekend!

Bravo, Jenna!!! I absolutely LOVE this painting. I didn’t see any of that beauty lying beneath those dots and swirls. You are an AMAZING artist!! So much fun to watch and learn from!! Thank you for this post. It absolutely made my day!
Rosie
You make it look easy and have the gift.
I love how you ‘grew’ flowers from a dribbles and drops of paint Jenna! So beautiful! Enjoy your weekend ♥
You are amazing! I can imagine doing the drops but not having them lead to such a wonderful finished piece.
