🌞 Holy Heat Wave 🌞
There seems to be universal agreement that July went by way too fast!
As we start dreaming of cooler fall temps and pumpkins,
My thoughts are turning also to autumn comfort food
I thought it might be fun to make some old fashioned comfort food recipes
and put a new twist on them…
The flavor/theme of the Month is Retro Redone!
You can see photos and recipe links to the following inspiration recipes in the August section here of the Monthly Paint Bucket

Bite Size Bloomin’ Onions from Macheesmo
Cheese Ring with Strawberry Preserves from Southern Living with a tropical twist
Million Dollar Dip from the Recipe Critic

Here’s what I made from the July Paint Bucket
The flavor of the month was Stone Fruit
Nectarine Brioche with Prosciutto Basil and Balsamic was inspired by Grilled Nectarine & Prosciutto Crostini from Jess Pryles
Salsa Chicken with Roasted Vegetables Salad or Wrap was made with Peach Salsa and was inspired by Summer Layered Salad with Grilled Chicken and Tomato Vinaigrette from Food Network
This is a great recipe to make good use of a little of this or that, and it’s easy, light and healthy too!
Peach Plum & a Dash of Rum Ice Cream was inspired by Fresh Peach Ice Cream from Southern Living
Red White & Blue Natchos turned into Summer BLT Nachos, a new summer favorite!!
Caramelized Shallot Dip with Toasted Everything Bagel Topping from Olla Podrida is a must try!
Roasted Shallot and Everything Seasoning Dip
Pulled Pork Pastry Puffs from Plain Chicken inspired BBQ Pork & Pineapple Pastry Puffs
I did make Beer Battered Zucchini Curly Fries from the Food Network, using tempura batter and spiralized zucchini, but we all decided they had no flavor other than the fried batter, and they weren’t even photo worthy…so if you want to indulge in something similar go for
Light & Crispy Spiralized Fries
OR try this delicious version of baked zucchini
Instead of Gouda Shrimp & Grits, which I still really want to make, HHjr made me Grilled Blackened Shrimp with Basil Fettucini Alfredo
Fireworks Blondies from Ann’s Entitled Life were the inspiration for my Patriotic Cookie Bars that are 1-2-3 EASY
Strawberry Cheesecake Pie was based on Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie from Sugar Spun Run
I changed it up by using a sugar cookie crust
I hope you have a delicious month!

What a great lineup of your recipes for August. Autumn is always a fun time for cooking. I keep it simple, grilling a lot and using a slow cooker. Your BLT Nachos would certainly be a hit here. And, a good selection of game day recipes. Love the art work and your photos…….
Thank you Emily, the slow cooker is one of my best friends, as much as I love summer, I do love cozy comfort dinners as it starts to cool down!
