Fearless Friday, Paint a Scarecrow!

This guy has gotten so many pins on Pinterest this Fall,

which got me thinking,

I should re-share the post I did with a scarecrow tutorial

Maybe you’d like to paint a scarecrow~

harvest

It’s easier than you think!

Start with a head, arms and legs~

I used white mixed with a touch of yellow and orange

Next add a swash of green for his shirt

Now add a dome for his hat

and a wavy brim

You can add Xs for his eyes while you’ve got the black out

or wait until the finishing touches

Paint the overalls with a square tipped brush,

using blue and white.

If you put both colors on your brush,

they will mix as you stroke,

creating a natural shading and depth of color

One brush stroke for each shoulder strap,

then run the brush across for the overall bib

Stroke straight down from the bib to form the pant legs

Now add the “straw,” using brown, orange and yellow.

Load a little of each color on a small tipped brush

and make quick short strokes

Add patches with stitches,

buttons on the straps,

and nose and mouth for finishing details

my newest scarecrow and his pal the witch,

will be starring in a Halloween tablescape next week!

Jenna, your little scarecrow is not scary but adorable! I can see why he was a hit on Pinterest. A great step by step tutorial and so many cute projects. Look forward to your tablescape next week……
    Hugs and missing you……..

    • Thanks Emily! Looks like a rainy weekend, I hope you can stay cozy and enjoy your family and a laid back weekend! We are relieved that the coast is out of the path and hoping the tarps on the roof hold. Hugs back and I miss you too!

  2. Jenna, I love all of your scarecrows! Congrats on all the pins. The sunflower scarecrow makes me smile. Looks like a rainy weekend. I am relieved for you that the coast won’t be in the path!

  4. Hmm. I was going to paint Halloween cards for the toddlers this weekend. Maybe I’ll make one of them a scarecrow! Yours is awfully cute! (As always, I might add!)

  5. So cute! I have my granddaughter with us for a few days, so I think I found our art project!

LOVE this. Want to do with my grandchildren. What kind of paint do you use. The colors are so vivid that I’m not sure if it’s acrylic or watercolors.
