Creations, Ho Ho Holiday Pumpkins!

Wait!

Don’t toss those pumpkins away!

I know a lot of people start holiday decorating

as soon as Thanksgiving is over,

it’s out with the Fall and in with all things Merry!

But don’t toss those Fall pumpkins,

they can really be fun to transform!

You can dress them up with ribbons and hats,

paint them, make them look like ornaments…

and stack them into snowmen!

Last weekend the weather was mild

so I decided to spray paint my pumpkins

and create some outdoor kitchen decor

A little paint,

a little imagination,

a Ho Ho Ho board from several years ago…

and the fireplace is full of holiday cheer!

The brown pumpkin wanted to be a reindeer…

I used 2 berry picks for his antlers and secured them with hot glue

I added excelsior for a “top knot” {and to cover the glue :)}

I tried adding a sparkly red nose ornament,

but it kept falling off so I gave up gave him a painted nose

Note: I didn’t want to poke holes in the pumpkin for his antlers or nose because I want him to last until Christmas, but for decorations that don’t need longevity, decorations can easily be secured in the pumpkin flesh

I tied a candy cane ribbon on the silver bumpy pumpkin

A striped knit stocking was tucked over the stem

of the white pumpkin for his hat

Santa has large rosy cheeks and a red nose,

black smiling eyes and

his beard is accented with black painted swirls

I painted some colored dots on the silver warty pumpkin

and declared it an oversized ornament!

A large pumpkin was painted white and became a snowman

He’s sporting a bucket hat and has a coal dot grin from cheek to cheek

He didn’t like sitting by the hot fire

so he jumped up to be near his friends on the mantel

If you are doing any holiday decorating this weekend,

I hope it’s full of Ho Ho Holiday Cheer!

  5. A Southern woman with spray paint in her hand this time of year is downright magical. I tried the pumpkin/snowman one year and decided to glue peppermint candy on him for “buttons.” He sat on my front porch in South Alabama for about 3 days before humidity and insects made him drippy, sticky and creepy! I like your ideas much better! Happy Thanksgiving!
