Recipe Box, Melt in Your Mouth Magic Biscuits

This recipe is called magic biscuits because they are truly magic!

Not only are they seriously EASY,

all you need is Bisquick, 7-UP or Sprite, sour cream and butter*

*The level of salt in salted butter varies by brand

so it is better to use unsalted butter so you have control

over the amount in your recipes

Melt the butter directly in your 8×8 baking dish.

Combine the baking mix with the soda and sour cream

This will form a wet, sticky dough.

Just drop it by blobs into the melted butter

and spread it around with your fingers

{dip fingers in flour so dough doesn’t stick}

until it is in an even layer in the dish

With a sharp knife, score the dough into 12-16 biscuits

Pop in the oven at 450, 12-15 minutes, until they are golden

  2. Wow. I’ve come to find sour cream as a magic ingredient in baking for moistness. This is worth a try!

  3. Jenna, I have heard about this recipe and it certainly is easy. I have all the ingredients, I am going to try them. Who doesn’t like a great biscuit?

I would never have thought to add Sprite to a biscuit mix. My curiosity is definitely piqued.

Your biscuits do sound like magic Jenna!

  6. This is definitely super easy. I suppose the soda would add no more sugar than if you put sugar in it, although it feels like they’d be too sweet — but maybe not! I do love using sour cream, too. This one looks like a winner.

Jenna, do you usually serve these for breakfast or as the bread for dinner/supper? I used to make mayonaise rolls all the time when I was a newlywed. I had a recipe that would fit my 6 muffin tin. I would trade a portion of my meat entree with my husband for his extra rolls. Those were the days when I didn’t get up and find the extra rolls as extra rolls in my figure. LOL!!

    • 😂 I haven’t made these for breakfast Rhonda, only as a side with dinner, soup or salad…but they’d be great for breakfast! Mayonnaise rolls sound great, I bet they’re very similar!
