Fearless Friday, Thank You Cards

Making your own cards can be so much fun,
and it’s a way to turn doodling with a paint brush
into something you can use

I got motivated by this adorable card, below left
Sweet Emily sent it to me for my birthday
and I just had to draw it {below right}

Then I decided to paint thank you notes for my holiday gifts

I love to make abstract flowers with watercolor,
just a few swooshes and voila,
a flower is born!

I painted a few roses, leaves and daisies with watercolor
and then added line work with colored fine liner pens
in several shades of green

Then I wrote “thank you” in a simple font

Another one was painted with hearts and roses
The theme for this one is “from my heart to yours”

Just a few simple roses and hearts, leaves and a black and white check “path”

Snowflakes have infinite possibilities~
I chose to use cool blues and purples,
adding details with a black fine liner

Snowflakes can take on any shape, just start with a line or two and doodle!

I used watercolor for these,
but markers would be a good choice
and would give you more control

You can paint daisies with a minimum of loose strokes
I chose to add emphasis with a black outline and black and white checks

Hand painted cards are like a gift in themselves…
like this beautiful watercolor wreath from my artist friend Jeanie

The cards tell the receiver how much their kindness was appreciated!
I’ve been adding card designs to my Society 6 Shop too…

LOVE your cards! I have an artist friends who uses her paintings on her custom cards. She gets them printed somewhere in Crestline (like a box at a time).
Thanks Ricki Jill, I had fun making these, but I also have a lot of designs available on cards in my Society 6 Shop too which is handy!
I have been making some cards recently with threads and scraps which work better for me than painting. As always, I admire your skills.
