Fearless Friday, Waiting for Santa

Can you believe that Christmas Eve is a week from today??

I know some excited little ones that are waiting for Santa!

Our houses are decorated and their stockings are hung~

Lots of holiday merriment has already begun!

First a pencil sketch starting with stones

Ink over the pencil and then erase

You can download this free printable here

if you want to color along

I colored this with markers

I have a set of 121 Caliart markers that I just love

I started with a light gray on the stones

and then darker gray where the shadows would be

The stockings were colored with 3 shades of red,

dark on the back, light on the front

Medium red in the middle

Small strokes of gray on the stocking cuffs

indicate fluffy white fur

Next the fire comes to life

with yellow, orange, and red

Black filled in around the fire really makes it pop

and adds a little depth

If you leave a white space near the top of the ornaments

you create a highlight indicating shine

Now for the evergreen garland on the mantel

Short green strokes indicating branches

To finish I added dots with one of my favorite

Zig Clean Color Dot pens

Have some coloring fun while you’re waiting for Santa!

Be Fearless!

Merry Friday to you my creative friend!

  3. This is so cute and would be a stress reliever to sit and sketch it with your directions. I need an extra week to get everything done! Merry week-before Christmas to you!

I really enjoy seeing how you draw your pictures. You make it look so easy. Personally, I wouldn’t know how to begin, so this is really helpful. Have a merry Christmas

I’m trying not to get into panic mode at the moment, LOL! I love your little drawing. You should draw your outdoor fireplace and pizza oven all decked out for Christmas! 😀

    • Oh no! Try not to panic, just put everybody to work! I didn’t decorate out side much this year because of all the windy rainy days plus my daughter is hosting our family Christmas

  7. This is super happy! I’m hoping I have time to do some sort of creative thing before Christmas (but my guess is it will be after!) Merriest to you!
