Recipe Box, Pumpkin Alfredo Puff Pastry Pizza with Bacon & Gruyère

We’re gearing up for Halloween around here

with some fun decorations for the boys to enjoy

and Big E’s favorite candy pumpkins

How about a Halloween twist on pizza night

with this amazing Pumpkin Alfredo Pizza!

This pizza is built on a light and flaky puff pastry crust,

topped with a Pumpkin Alfredo sauce,

topped with caramelized onions, bacon and sage,

and finished with Gruyère and Parmesan cheese 😋

I discovered a short cut way to make caramelized onions~

on a sheet pan in the oven!

They still take a while,

but the difference is you don’t have to stand there

for 30 minutes stirring them!

Drizzle them with olive oil, salt and pepper,

toss to coat and spread them out into an even layer

Give them a sprinkle of water

which helps them steam and soften

Pop them in the oven and go do something else for 30 minutes~

You can stir once if convenient

Remove from the oven when they are brown

and beginning to char, 30-40 minutes

Even though mine look a little burnt

they had incredible flavor and didn’t taste burnt at all

Place the puff pastry on a sprayed or lined baking sheet

Prick all over with a fork and score the edge with a sharp knife

Bake at 400 for 10 minutes

I used Trader Joe’s puff pastry and it came out really puffy!!

Spread top with a layer of Alfredo sauce

and then top with pumpkin puree,

sort of swirling it in to the Alfredo*

Layer on the caramelized onion and top with bacon pieces

Cut or tear sage leaves into smaller pieces,

scatter on top, then sprinkle Gruyère over all

Return to oven for 10 more minutes or until golden and melty

The crust is so light and flaky

and the pumpkin Alfredo sauce with the bacon,

onions and sage is a delight for the tastebuds!

  3. You are NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS . . . I just returned from Birmingham yesterday, where I always load my cooler up with Trader Joe goodies, and amongst the loot this time was a jar of . . . Pumpkin Alfredo! Back to my small town with big city ingredients. I wasn’t sure what to do with it, but I should have known I could count on you for guidance. This looks delicious and now I can’t wait to try it. Thanks!
P.S. I also bought a chocolate Babka, like on Seinfeld.

    • Ohhh, I haven’t tried TJ’s pumpkin Alfredo, let me know how you like it! I had a half jar of both regular Alfredo and pumpkin puree and was trying to use them up, thus came the pizza…it’s really good on pasta too…btw, I have been trying to comment on your blog and it just doesn’t work, so sorry!
