Fearless Friday, Shamrocks

I am all about March this week,
and today I want to show you how to draw/paint shamrocks
so you can make some St. Patrick’s Day crafts

A shamrock is just 3 or 4 heart shapes put together on a stem
To paint a shamrock, or a 3 or 4 leaf clover,
you just need hearts
Painting hearts is easy,
if you need a refresher course you can see Painting Hearts here
Two C shapes, one backward, tilted and joined together,
then fill in the middle
You can use paint, markers, chalk ink pens, whatever you like
I used 2 green Sharpies for these little bags

Acrylic paint made for glass was used on this vase

When you paint on glass,
you can practice your strokes on a piece of aluminum foil,
the surface is slick like glass
so your paint will react the same way
The shamrock leaves on the vase are composed of 2 short, fat strokes
and then a thin stroke for the stem
You can see the tutorial for the leprechaun here
The shamrocks on these stemmed glasses are larger
but painted the same way

Once the green paint was dry
I added simple patterns with white

These little bags are fun to use as favors at each place setting
Fill them with a few chocolates and coins for each guest

You can also paint a shamrock plant
like this one I painted on a decorative sign for the porch
to welcome leprechauns!

I hope you will have fun with shamrocks

Here come the shamrocks!
March 17 is my granddaughter’s birthday so it’s a big deal around here!
I bet!
I was just thinking about shamrocks this morning. Once a year I buy a shamrock plant to slowly kill (last year’s still has three shamrocks on it!). I think I’d do better painting them!
haha, I’ve never had one, just the one I painted ☘️
I’ve already set a green table, but need an extra “punch” of cuteness. Thanks for the ideas! I think a vase and shamrock plant is needed.
Thanks Leslie Anne!
Your shamrock art is the best!
Thank you Mary ☘️
Jenna, I love the shamrocks you painted. I will show this to my granddaughters, they will love it!
Thank you Pam, have a great weekend!
All so cute, but my favorite is the pot of shamrocks to welcome the leprechauns.☘
Got to keep those leprechauns happy!
Your shamrocks are so beautiful, Jenna.
Thanks Angie☘️
Loving your shamrock paintings! My favorite is the plant!
Thanks Nancy, you should paint some shamrock glasses!
I just might! ☘️
Love all your shamrocks Jenna. Thanks for the St. Patrick’s Day pretties and inspiration.
Thank you Emily ☘️
Such a great tip to practice painting on foil to mimic a glass surface Jenna! The leprechaun feet in the hat is too cute! ☘️☘️☘️
Thanks Mary ☘️
Jenna, I love your shamrock crafts – they are all so cute! I’m wondering if you had to bake the wine glasses in the oven after you painted them as I think I’d seen that somewhere before? Hope you are having a lovely week there!
Thank you Kim! Yes, I used acrylic paint for glass that you bake in the oven to “cure” it, that way it’s top rack dishwasher safe. Weather has been great, 80 degrees today!
