Spring Bottle in Bloom!

Welcome to the March Creative Craft Blog Hop

A big thank you to Sara @Birdz of a Feather for hosting!

And welcome friends, readers and visitors from Pretty DIY Home

Are you seeing signs of Spring where you live?

Spring has sprung in the Deep South

and things are bursting into blooms everywhere you look,

even on this bottle!

I love to save interesting shaped bottles and transform them

This whiskey bottle had a nice square shape

I used tissue paper, paint and faux flowers to decorate it

I folded the tissue paper sections in half

and the double thickness disguised the label

so I didn’t have the tedious task of removing it

I painted the first area with Mod Podge

and then applied green dotted tissue

and brushed Mod Podge over it

and then did the same with the striped flower tissue

Because each section of tissue was folded,

the edges were nice and clean

Once the Mod Podge was completely dry

I used a glue gun to add flowers

Because there wasn’t any Mod Podge

in between the folded tissue layers

I did have a few problematic places

where it wrinkled a little~

BUT!

I was going to apply the faux flowers randomly anyway

so I just placed them on top of any problem areas to cover

Then I added a ring of flowers around the base of the bottle neck

Next a few polka dots with acrylic craft paint

I used the tip of the paint brush handle to apply the dots

A small bouquet of faux flowers replaced the bottle cap

It looks cute with the faux flowers or the cap

And with real flowers!

A bottle in bloom will brighten any room!

Wow, Jenna! You certainly have a knack for creating unique and adorable bottle vases! Love the spring time theme and 3D effect! What a playful design with a touch of whimsy! Looks like you had too much fun and never disappoint with your creativity!

I adore your project with the real flowers Jenna! If ever I need bottle inspiration, I know where I’ll come to see your amazing transformations! I’ll need to pop by more often to experience Spring vicariously through you too; we’re still buried in snow here in the great white north lol.

  8. Leanna says:

Such a cheerful full of Spring colour craft idea. Sad to say inside is the only way I am seeing Spring colours. We have loads of snow yet. This bottle would be cheery in our home. Thanks for sharing.

Your bottle turned out so cute! I love the little flowers too. Don’t you just love when you can disguise a mistake and it looks even better than when you started out?! Your painted bottle is so pretty as well! Great hopping with you as always! Pinned.

You’ve inspired me, Jenna. I have a couple of bottles I’ve been saving and they would definitely benefit from this treatment!

  13. lghiggins says:

Very nice! I love your idea of covering up the bottles rather than the long process of removing labels and glue.

  14. I love your choice of colors and the fun whimsical look of these Spring bottles. Looks like a project you had lots of fun making. Pinned!

Jenna, I am loving your spring
bottle in bloom. This is a fun DIY for those of us that aren’t very crafty. I know you have enjoyed this beautiful day!

  17. Kathy A says:

What a lovely project–and so doable! I wish I had some interesting bottles to upcycle. Old jam jars get repurposed to hold my homemade Epsom bath salts but I don’t get many interesting bottles!

What wonderful use of an empty whiskey bottle. I tend to love bottles that contain liqueurs, just imagine what I could do with one of those! Thanks for the inspiration.

I love all your bottles Jenna – they are so pretty! the painted bottle is stunning! I agree with Amalia – such a happy craft. Thank you as always for your wonderful inspiration!
