Fearless Friday, Autumn Apples

When you see a big bowl of shiny apples,
what is your first thought?
School days…fall weather…apple cider… apple pie…
When I see a bowl of apples it just makes me happy,
like things are right with the world…
When I saw this magazine page,
I decided to paint a bowl of peaceful, happy apples…
No sketch today, I just started painting shapes of color
When I got to this point I used colored pencils
to deepen the darks and add contrasts
Now I wasn’t happy with the bowl
So I went back and added more watercolor
This washed out and blended the pencil strokes where I didn’t want them
I added leaf details, stems and shadows
Life is just a bowl of apples!

Here are more ways to create apples

Good morning, Jenna. Oh how I love the apples, they are one of autumn’s best gifts. I have been eating honeycrisp apples this week and they are quite delicious. As always, I love seeing your talent displayed in your fabulous art work. Happy Friday 🍎
Thank you Pam, have a great weekend! Roll Tide!
I think of apple pie first 🙂 Your painting is really beautiful!
Thank you Angie!
These are all wonderful, Jenna. I love these apples (better than I really like real apples!) I’m waiting for the honeycrisps, which are my favorite. Your work is so happy.
Thank you Jeanie!
Oh, Jenna, you are “the apple of my eye” for these creations. There must be a collective consciousness among women about apples. They do universally spark thoughts of pie, fall, fairs, candied apples, school days and so on. These are lovely and show off your talents! There are 2 things I always buy in the fall–apples and candy corn. I used to eat the candy corn, but now just put some out in a jar to look at. I can still enjoy it, get my allotted endorphins for those happy memories of falls and Halloweens past, but no calories. Happy Fall, dear Jenna–Georgia Gal
Thanks Georgia Gal! I love to decorate with candy corn but I have never enjoyed eating it~ I am certainly ready for cooler temps, but don’t like the days getting shorter. Go Dawgs and Roll Tide!
Beautiful Jenna…I bought granny smith and red delishes at the Farmer’s Market the other day and your pretty drawing reminds me to eat another right now. Happy Friday my friend
Thank you Kari! I hope you have a lovely weekend!
