3 D Flower Art Canvas

It’s time for the March Creative Craft Blog Hop!

Thank you so much Sara from Birdz of a Feather

for hosting this month

Welcome, friends, readers and visitors from Purple Hues and Me

I always love what clever Gail comes up with,

weren’t her Beaded Flowers wonderful?

I have a floral craft to share today also,

faux flowers in a vase on a painted canvas

I adore flowers, I am not a gardener,

but I love to have fresh and faux flowers around my house

and I love to paint flowers~

You don’t have to be an artist

to create a beautiful 3D flower canvas

I had a variety of faux flowers and leaves in my craft stash

and a blank white canvas in my art studio

The first thing I did was play around with them

on the blank canvas until I came up with

an arrangement I liked

Then I sketched the outline of a simple vase

on the canvas

I gently slid the arrangement off the canvas onto the table

so I could recreate it on the canvas

I decided to paint the vase turquoise with a touch of blue,

and the background a pale pink

I used artist acrylic paint but you can use any acrylic or craft paint

I purposely painted the background with varying shades

of pale pink and white and left noticeable brush strokes

on purpose to add depth and interest,

but you could just paint the color solid if you prefer

Then I painted the vase

When the paint was dry

I began to recreate the arrangement on the canvas

using a glue gun to secure the pieces

I placed the smaller pieces on first

knowing the big fluffy hydrangeas

would cover up the glued stems

I needed one more hydrangea to balance it out

and some leaves

I added small white dots on the vase with a white paint pen

I love the way it turned out, and hung it in my foyer 🌸

Supply List:

blank white canvas, any size

acrylic or craft paint, paint pen {optional for details}

faux flowers and leaves, wire cutters if needed

glue gun

I have done several other 3D canvases,

Clockwise from left: In Full Bloom,

Popping Poppies, Blooming Pumpkin

I love the way it turned out Jenna, so clever!

  5. I love this!! It might be something I could actually do, as I have no talent for painting but even I could wash in a vase shape. A glue gun is a permanent fixture on my crafting bench and I have some canvases left over from an art class that I attempted. So clever!! Thank you for the inspiration!!

I am visiting from Ann at Apple Street Cottage, I love this idea! I have been going about this all wrong. Trying to be a beginner painter (teehee) I thought I could make flowers, but this is so much better and realistic than I could make! Well done, thanks for sharing.
