Fearless Friday, Cherry Pie
Hungry?
Oh good, let’s have a piece of cherry pie!
And it’s no calories too~ Let’s dive in…
This photo from Pixabay is what I used for a model
Pixabay is a great place to find free photos
of things you want to draw/paint
I drew an outline of the pie crust to get the feel
and size of the shape
and then went back and lightly erased it
so it would not show through the watercolor

After the first stroke of very light Yellow Ochre,

I decided to use colored pencils too

Dark brown watercolor

Dark brown colored pencil

Red watercolor cherries and more pencil on the top crust

More cherries with light and dark shades of reds

More watercolor washes on the top crust

Dark brownish red colored pencil
A few final touches

“Cherry Pie” 5″x 4″ mixed media on mixed media paper

Happy Painting,

You now have me crave some cherry pie, Jenna!
Thank you Angie!
I agree with Mary, it is so realistic that it looks delicious! The bonus is no calories. Happy Friday, Jenna 🍒🍒
Thank you Pam, stay cool!
Jenna what a great talent you are….I always love your easy to follow instruction and the result is amazing. Now I want to make a cherry pie. YUM
Thank you Kari 🙂
This does look like summer!
Thanks Dorothy, have a great weekend~
You too!
Calorie free with all the taste? Count me in!
ha ha, thanks Linda~
Great job, Jenna. Do you ever use the Inktense watercolor pencils? What kind of watercolor paper do you use?
I have some Inktense pencils, but never use them, I need to get them out and play! I did the pie in my mixed media paper sketch book. When I use watercolor paper, I like cold press 140 lb. paper. This was just a quick painting, I spent less than 30 minutes on it.
You did a terrific job, getting the crust right sounds like it would be the hardest part to do.
Thank you so much Karen!
It looks good enough to eat!
