Fearless Friday, Sweet Peppers
We had fajitas for dinner the other night
and I couldn’t resist snapping a photo
of the sweet peppers we were going to use,
they were so pretty, I wanted to paint them!

I made a collage with this photo
and pepper paintings from Pinterest
to use for reference

I started with the red pepper,
establishing it’s shape with a pale red wide stroke

Darker washes of color were added to continue building the form

I used lime and dark green for the stem

Deep red for the dark areas

I added washes of brighter red, continuing to “build” the pepper

I used the same process for the yellow pepper

I decided to do the third pepper green
and used the shape from the third pepper in the photo,
then used the green pepper paintings to guide the shading

It was fun to watch the peppers come to life!

Happy Painting~

Thank you Mary, I actually have a wall in my city kitchen that is a gallery of food art 🙂
Beautiful Jenna! I was thinking to myself that the painting of the peppers would be a good companion to the radishes and then I saw your comment to Mary about the gallery wall of food art in your city kitchen and just smiled. Maybe that’s where the peppers already are lol. Hope you are having a great week!
Thank you Kim, I should add them to my wall, I love the way they turned out 🙂
