Fearless Friday, Fall Door
Today we are going to draw and paint a front door
decorated for Fall
I made a collage of front doors
I found on Unsplash and Pinterest
to use for reference and inspiration

I started with a pencil sketch, using a ruler to draw the lines
Then I inked over it and added a light and a few pumpkins,
just loose and free, not perfect at all

Then a little color, again just free and loose
A little color on the pumpkins and light,
and yellow and orange abstract shapes
indicating Fall leaves

A little sap green

Shadows with light grays

Scribble lines for a finishing touch
“Fall Door” 5″ x 7″ watercolor and ink on mixed media paper

This type of painting is not meant to be realistic,
it’s an impression and it’s a fun way to loosen things up a little~
and a great way to
Be Fearless!

So pretty! Happy Friday, Jenna.
Thank you Angie, Happy weekend!
You are such a great artist. You make everything seem so simple. I am not an artist but I so enjoy your blog. Thank you.
Thanks so much Mary 🙂
Jenna, I love your blue door decorated for autumn. Like Mary said, you make it look so simple. But your artistry is pure talent. Happy Friday 🧡
Thank you Pam 💕
So pretty! I want my door to look like that.
Thanks Dorothy, enjoy your weekend!
Have a lovely weekend too!
I’ve held out in decorating for fall – technically, you know I’m right (all of you early fall people), but I may cave in this weekend and pull it out. I’m loving the blue and orange combo – even though, please note: I’m NOT a gator or auburn fan – it’s just pretty, ya’ know? i love your inspiration! Happy weekend!
Blue and orange is pretty for fall if you don’t think about AU!
Your Fall door painting is charming and vibrant! Love the loose, creative style and the festive colors. Great job!

Thanks so much Doris!
Wonderful tutorial as usual! On a trip to Uruguay, I discovered a love for doors–not necessarily gorgeous new doors, but more likely old doors with character. Your pictures just reinforce that love.
The same thing happened to me when I went to San Miguel de Allende Mexico! I took pictures of doors all over the city and when I got home I did a series of door paintings…it’s like each one has a story to tell~
Yes! I haven’t been there, but I’ve seen lots of pictures of that magical city. It’s a great place to be an artist!
Marvelous, Jenna. Warm, Welcoming. I love doors — I always wonder what is behnid them!
Thank you Jeanie, doors always fascinate me~
This is such a charming painting! Congrats on your feature at Linda’s! It was nice to watch the progression of your painting! Many blessings 🙂
Thanks so much!
Love this, so much fun. you have the patience of a Saint to do the photos all away along. Once I start painting, I’m gone until I’m stuck or tired and then I think–Oh photos…lol. Sweet idea, and a great gift to do friends’ doors!
I do know what you mean, sometimes I get so into it I for get to take photos. That is a good idea to do friends doors as gifts!
Absolutely love this Jenna! Love the loose and carefree style and those pumpkins just make me smile. Love the leaves too – it all turned out great. Fearless indeed.
Happy Monday!
Thanks so much Kim, sometimes less is more…
I always so love your paintings Jenna! It so fun to see them develop – thanks for showing us the steps! Happy Fall my artistic friend!
Thanks so much!
Love your door and artistry Jenna! ♥
Thank you Mary, the leaves are falling!
