Flower Bouquet with Simple Shapes
I often say that drawing is simply a matter of combining shapes
This simple bouquet really demonstrates the method
I used this photo for my model
{Pinterest, but no source}
I liked it because it was easy to see the shapes
of the flowers and leaves
I began with a very light pencil sketch
Then the fun begins, adding color!
To keep the petals white on the main 2 flowers,
I outlined them in a pale yellow,
then added darker shadows
Light pink petals first and then darker pinks

Red

Green, dark and light

I wanted to fill in all the spaces as in my model photo

At this point I declared it finished~

I liked it this way but I couldn’t help pulling out my fine liner pen…
“Bouquet” 8″ x 10″ marker & ink

Which one do you like better?

Have fun and Be Fearless!

Simple but so lovely!
Jenna, I love your colorful bouquet! if forced to make a choice, I like the way the fine liner pen brings out the beautiful flowers!
Wishing you a lovely weekend 💕
thank you Pam, I can’t seem to resist using a fine liner 🌺 😊
Beautiful Jenna! I like it with the addition of the fine liner pen, Happy Weekend! ♥
Thank you Mary 💐
So fresh and pretty. Both a lovely, but I like the bouquet with the fine marker outline a wee bit more.
Thanks for showing us how to make it!
Thank you Nancy!
Just beautiful Jenna! Love the colors and the fine liner you added. Like I always say, you make it look so easy! Hope your weekend is lovely…….Em
Thanks Em 💕
This is fabulous! I like the addition of the ink 😊
Thanks RJ!
The shape thing is the easiest way to teach art. I love the colors — it’s clearly what it is but delightfully abstract and so cheery!
Thank you Jeanie, this was a fun one 🙂
You certainly haven’t lost your touch, Jenna. Love this work–I do like the one with the liner better. Hope this note finds you well, as we look forward to the 4th of July and perhaps a patriotic offering from you, whether it’s in the food or art department. We all love your beautiful mind that dreams up some wonderful enjoyment for all of us! Shelia
Thank you Georgia Gal!
Simply beautiful – the liner pen is like adding a string of pearls to a black dress!
Thanks Mary, I love your analogy!
I seem to be in the minority, but I prefer the picture without the fine liner. Soft with more of a “bedroom” relaxed feel.
Thanks Linda, I like the one without the liner too 🙂
Jenna, I always love watching your paintings come to life and these flowers are beautifully done. I liked the liner, but it is lovely either way. Sorry to be so late in commenting and I hope you have a lovely week!
Oh thank you Kim, this was a fun experiment!
Hi Jenna, I like both versions! I love the bright pinks and reds! So beautiful!!
Thank you Jill!
