Party Panache, Lollipops & Beer

Last weekend we celebrated my son-in-law’s {NG, nicest guy} 30th birthday. He wanted to go to the beach for the weekend and possibly do some fishing. The Gulf Coast is generally cold this time of year, but some days if the sun comes out and it’s not too windy, it is actually almost warm and tropical. We actually had a warm afternoon one day and his wish was granted! While he was out fishing, my daughter {DD, darling daughter} and I did a little decorating…
I had been planning this special cake for NG for almost a year…I couldn’t wait to get started! For a Bud Lite drinking, sweet loving man, this was going to be the perfect Birthday Cake!
I actually put this together before we left for the coast because I wanted to make sure that I had everything I needed to put it together
The plan was to use 30 beer cans, so I divided them up into 3 groups.
I used the box to make card board rounds for in between the tiers to support the cans.
I used clear package sealing tape to hold the cans in place in a tight circle, the taped the cardboard round on top.
I could have never done it without my handy dandy packing tape!
on this tier I taped the inside of the circle to keep the circle in shape. In the center of the top tier there was a perfect spot for the lollipop bouquet.
I tied a black ribbon around each tier and tucked the extra lollipops in between the cans. There were 30 lollipops in all of course! I carefully packed the tiers in a box for transport and the cake was easy to reassemble when we arrived.
HHjr and I had some fun making the cake topper with some free clip art and Photoshop. We are always making fun of NG because he is so young {and sweet and cute!} so we couldn’t resist this grinning baby. Then I photoshopped a beer can in his hands and created a cartoon balloon for his message.
DD bought the 3 0 candles and this lovely plastic table runner at Party City which we used across the top of the island. We even used some for wrapping paper!
It was quite a classy display, ha ha…It was color coordinated though!
We added some Moose Munch around the cake {NG has a SERIOUS sweet tooth} and piled presents all around
He was pretty excited when he came in from fishing and there was this birthday monument of beer, presents and sweets!
As he was packing up his gifts and getting ready to leave on Sunday his last words were, “I’ve got some leftover Birthday Cake to drink!”
This was not an original idea, I adapted it from other “beer cakes” I have seen floating around Pinterest and the lollipops from sisterstuff.blogspot.com which is no longer current.

This is one of the cutest things….SO creative!!! This is a perfect “guy thing” that will no doubt catch on as THE birthday cake of men!!! The cutout on top is fun! This took some thinking and effort, and I’m sure he appreciated it very much. No doubt ALL of your son-in-law’s friends will be expecting the same for their birthdays this year! 🙂
I love it! Very clever “cake”.
This is just way too much fun. No matter where the idea came from, it’s terrific!
Cute idea…will have to remember this!
What a great idea!
I think a lot of men would love a cake like that! And since my husband doesn’t have a sweet tooth, he would prefer his cake like this! I have to pin this (to my secret board, of course lol), it’ll be perfect for him this year. Thanks for the inspiration!
