Home decor, Nursery ideas

Now that Baby C has arrived I can show off her nursery…
I can’t take any credit, it is all designed by DD. I just did as she asked and helped her create the look she wanted. Her entire home is done in versions of grays and whites and it is stunning. At first I wasn’t too sure about a gray nursery, but it’s adorable!
The feature wall is decorated with three 8″ x 10″ canvases, surrounded by larger white wooden frames.
DD & I spent an afternoon designing these. She wanted very simple modern shapes, in a pattern. From left to right, 3 lollipop trees, 1 crown, and 5 lambs.
The lollipop trees are created with a pattern of circles in shades of pink and gray. I KNOW YOU’RE THINKING “50 Shades of Grey” and totally inappropriate thoughts, but try to stay focused here!
The single, stylized “princess” crown repeats the dots. DD only wanted sporadic touches of pink as accents on these canvases, not the dominant color.
The 5 fluffy lambs are in dot like masses with pink dot faces and ears.
The edges of the canvases are painted with gray stripes and hung directly on the painted gray wall. Then a larger white open frame is hung surrounding the canvases, and the wall color becomes a mat.
On the opposite wall is a shelf holding a large canvas painted with baby subway art, a shadow box framed pink sweater, knit by Baby C’s great grandmother, and a stuffed bunny.
I don’t have a before photo of the shelf but it was NG’s, and it was in his childhood bedroom holding sports trophies. They sanded off the maple finish and painted it with white paint and distressed the edges here and there. They painted some iron hooks with the gray wall paint and it looks fabulous!
The light fixture is kind of a combo of a chandelier and a drum shade light. It’s feminine yet modern.
This is another 8″ x 10″ canvas painted with gray dots and a baby bundle to hang on the door when the baby is sleeping….Shhhhhhhhh…I doubt it will do much good with their giant dog, Big Ben, around, but it’s worth a try…I found the gray and white chevron ribbon at Hobby Lobby and attached it to the back with staples and a glue gun.
He is going to be quite a good watch dog! He does some wonky things with his paws…this looks uncomfortable to me!
Here’s another idea for a baby girl, a canvas painted with her monogram with hanging ribbons attached for clipping on hair bows.
These letters were made for another little girl, Averee. There are many styles of wood letters available at the craft stores now and these were painted with shades of pink. If you look carefully you can see the edges are painted with fat chocolate stripes to match Averee’s chocolate brown and pink nursery.
This custom ordered galvanized trash can was painted and personalized for a “sweet pea” named Olivia.
This little “sweet pea” can could be used for toys, or any kind of storage.
An old window gets a new life and purpose painted with tulips and bunnies.
I hope I’ve given you some fresh ideas today for some springtime decorating or a children’s room! Thanks for popping in!
The gray & white dot 8′ x 10′ area rug is from Pottery Barn
The nightstand is from a local antique shop
The paintings and the other painted pieces are JMdesigns originals

Oh wow! I would have never thought a gray baby’s room would be a good thing — but it SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the softness of the colors. Everything turned out lovely!
Kenley
Thanks Kenley, it really is pretty.

50 Shades of Gray…..you are SO funny! Not hardly! We’re all just thinking, “How cool is that??!?!?! Wow!!!” Pink and gray has always been a favorite color combo of mine (I even did a Valentine’s Day table in those colors this year!), and I think it is really pretty in that room! Given the decor theme, it reminds me more of a regal silver or platinum than a gray. The white helps to balance it all out nicely. I love it! Job well done!!!!!!
I am trying to keep my enthusiasm at bay here over my new precious granddaughter, I am afraid it is spilling over the top…my daughter would die if she knew i posted this so, Shhhhh!
All of it is just a precious bundle of cuteness!
Thanks Laurie!
Jenna~ The nursery is adorable with the gray, white and touches of pink you added! Love the white frames hung around the canvases~ you have so many creative ideas! I need to revisit your baby shower post, I’m hosting one this fall. I had to chuckle at the way Big Ben is sitting on the floor, it does look uncomfortable 🙂 Congrats on the arrival of your granddaughter!
thanks Mary, I will look forward to seeing your wonderfulness when you host the baby shower! It killed me that I couldn’t plan and host my daughter’s shower, even though it was fun to be a guest for a change. I had a lot of fun doing that one!

How sweet! I just love the little framed sweater =)
I just posted about my nursery also. I am visiting from Uncommon Design…
Adorable with a capital A!!! How wonderful that you were able to work together and make such a beautiful room for your new addition to your family. What a Blessing. The room is perfect. Way to go Grandma!!
Looks beautiful. Love that color gray for the walls. Do you mind sharing what pain color it is? Thanks!
