Do you love Pinterest?

Are you half-hearted about it,  don’t really care one way or another…

painting hearts thepaintedapron.com

or think it’s frightful waste of time?

Do you ever go back and look at your pins?  Or do you just madly pin pin pin away?

When was the last time you organized your pins??

Aha! Now we cut to the chase…

I discovered Pinterest when it was first launched and thought it was the coolest thing ever.  I was fascinated that I could create a virtual and visual bulletin idea board with a few clicks…

I watched this incredible platform grow and change and smooth out the rough spots, until now it is lightning fast and user friendly…

I am a huge Pinterest fan…it is an irresistible candy box of temptations, ideas, and how tos…

Reorganization and decluttering your Pinterest boards is just as important and self fulfilling as cleaning out your pantry or your closet

Purge, toss out, re-purpose, give away! Do the same thing with your Pinterest boards

I had a board called Recipes… well, yawn, that didn’t really tell me much.  And it had 3000 pins on it.  Duplicates, triplicates things I would never make,  and furniture.  Wait furniture?

.

It needed some organizational love

So I purged.  I cut.  I moved.  I created new, more specific boards, like  Main Dish Casseroles, Slow Cooker Recipes, Painting Tutorials, Centerpieces

Did you know you can click the button at the top right of your page that says Move Pins? When you click it will turn red and a copy and red delete button will appear also.

Now every photo on the page will have a check in the upper right corner.  You can move pins, copy pins or delete them in batches up to 50 at a time

.

Go through and delete the ones you don’t want, and be realistic… are you really going to make Halloween costumes for all the kids this year?          source

Once you’ve purged, now it’s time to categorize

.

If it’s decor, maybe divide pins into boards labeled fabrics, bedrooms, furniture- anything to help you be able to find and refer to it in the future

I divided my Holiday board into the actual holidays and occasions, like Easter and Spring, Red White and Blue, Mardi Gras.  Whatever works for you

Screen Shot 2015-09-17 at 3.33.17 PM

Use the move button in the same way you used the delete button.  Create the boards you want to add first and refresh Pinterest so they will show up on your list.  Now click on move button.  Click all the pins you want to move to, say your new DIY board.  Then click move.  A drop down box will appear where you then select the board you want to move the pins to, like your new DIY board.  Whoosh, they’re moved!

Now you’re on the way to really being able to really to benefit from all those pins you’ve been so busy pinning!

When I was doing all this organizing, decluttering and purging, I ran across a lot of wonderful ideas, inspirations, and OH YEAH, things…so now I might actually get around to doing some of these things that I had pinned and totally forgotten about~

Great tips Jenna! I’m a Pinterest-oholic but my boards need some organization!

P.S. Sending you my condolences for the game last night 🙂

I too, am a Pinterest-oholic, and I try to organize one board at a time whenever I have a few extra minutes…Isn’t it amazing how quickly we gather thousands of pins? I’m glad they have the feature that tells me if I’ve already pinned something so that I don’t just pin it over and over again.
I need to go check out your 5-minute recipes.

Thanks for sharing these great tips on organizing our Pinterest boards. We can get nutty about pinning and then can’t remember where we pinned it!

  4. Great post — I’m very particular about what I pin and really only pin what is truly inspiring to me or something I’m interested in creating. Very small scale. Very specific to my needs. I really don’t pin for others — I pin for myself. Otherwise, for me, it just becomes useless stored information. I love it and find it very relaxing.

Great tips! I love Pinterest, but I follow it in spurts! I did reorganize mine about a month ago! 🙂

  6. Kim says:

Great ideas! I know I need to revamp my Pinterest boards, so maybe you’ve given me the necessary nudge. Thanks!

  7. Sara says:

I’ve been on Pinterest before, but honestly it always overwhelmed me lol. It has such neat ideas and pretty pictures, but there are so many! I might have to give it another try and just make sure I organize it properly

  8. I love that, “do you ever go back and look at your pins”. I was inspired by so many of my Halloween pins when I went back to check them these past few weeks! Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing at Celebrate it Sunday! I hope you will stop by and party with me again this week!
