Recipe Box, Slow Cooker Chili Mac & Cheese

Here’s another short cut recipe for low energy days that will perk up your strength in no time


Make a big pot of your favorite chili  {or try HHjrs easy recipe below}


We like to make chili in a slow cooker, the aroma can be enjoyed all day or greet you like a big hug when you get home


Here’s the real easy part, perfectly pre-cooked pasta, what?

I found this Cavatappi, a long curly macaroni noodle, in the fresh deli section at Target


Add it to your chili at the end, just before serving


Along with freshly grated sharp cheddar


It’s going to make you very happy!


With or without cornbread!

Slow Cooker Chili Mac & Cheese

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 7 hours
Course Main Course, slow cooker
Cuisine American
Servings 8


  • slow cooker


  • 8 oz. ground chuck
  • 1 lb. mild Italian sausage
  • 2 15 oz. cans fire roasted tomatoes
  • 2 28 oz. cans Bush’s chili beans
  • 1 14 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1 large white onion chopped
  • 1 red pepper chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 T chili powder
  • 1 T cumin
  • salt & pepper
  • cooked macaroni or tubular pasta
  • 8 oz grated sharp cheddar cheese


  • Brown and crumble beef and sausage. Drain.
  • Saute onion and red pepper for several minutes, stirring until softened then add garlic and cook 1 more minute.
  • Spray or line 6 quart slow cooker. Add cooked meat, vegetables, tomatoes with juice, beans with sauce, tomato sauce, and seasonings. Stir well, cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours.
  • Right before serving stir in pasta and cheese or add it to individual bowls with chili.

    I wish it felt like chili weather here Jenna, it’s downright balmy! The chili sounds delicious though and who knew there was such a thing as pre-cooked noodles at the deli? Love your team pride in your slow cooker too 🙂

  5. We love chili, and letting it cook in the crockpot is even better. Hmmmm…..I have fresh blueberries. I was thinking about making blueberry muffins but now I might need to change my mind!

    Since discovering fire-roasted tomatoes, I use them in chili. Transforming! Thanks for inspiring me to also add macaroni. It’s something I used to do for the kids, but why not do it for “we big kids” now? Ha!
