Fearless Friday, Fishing Frosty

I haven’t made much time for art lately, and I heard myself telling one of my artist buddies that I was going to get back into it in January with a daily challenge…
And then I thought, no, I’m going to start now!!
Doodlewash has subject prompts every month, daily suggestions for drawing or painting
Even though December is the busiest month of the year, I am giving myself a present by stealing 15-20 minutes for daily sketching
I keep a tray of markers, colored pencils and pens handy, no set up or clean up, perfect for squeezing in a quick sketch on busy days
The monthly Doodlewash prompts are always related to things going on during that particular month or season
You don’t have to use the prompts, draw or paint anything you want and post it to social media with #doodlewashDecember2018 to share your creations
I made a Pinterest board of inspirations for the December prompts and would love to share it with you
You can see it here
Or make your own Pinterest board of ideas. Instead of spending time deciding what to draw or paint, having a collection of ideas, that are easily accessed, gets you started right away
As you can see, the prompt for Dec. 4 was snowman, which got me thinking about how I wanted to stage my bathroom Frosty this year… my grandsons love to fish, so this year Frosty is going fishing in the bathtub!
I am going to do a Fishing Frosty chalkboard, so I decided to do a colored drawing to use as a reference guide to use when I do the chalkboard
A simple pencil sketch, then ink outline
Coloring with markers and adding details as I went along
Shades of grays to define his shape
Leaving parts of his hat white to indicate highlights and shine
“Fishing Frosty”

100 percent adorable! I’m making time for me this month by taking a cooking class with friends on Sunday! Maybe some sketching time, too! Happy weekend, j
Love this Fishing Frosty! Is there a post somewhere on how to replicate Frosty and the ‘snow’?

Fishing Frosty is awesome, Jenna!! ❤️⛄️ Love your artwork and seeing your process. 😊💞
You are having so much fun! Wonderful holiday art.
Yes I am, I’m so glad I am doing this challenge! My house is a jumble, and don’t have any wrapped presents, but I am so happy to be doing art regularly again. I admire the way you always create early in the day and make it a priority…
Oh my gosh, I laughed out loud. Frosty swimming in the bathtub is hilarious! Please try to get your grandsons reactions and share with us. I just love this!
They pretty much expect it now but the youngest one, 3, I think will be pretty surprised! Thanks Rita
Ha, ha, the kids will be tickled! Have a great weekend:@)
thanks Lynn! I have a little mischief maker that already “rearranged” the candy cane pole so I put an elf on the shelf in there to guard Frosty!
How cute! All of Frosty’s antics in the “loo” are such great memory makers. You are so creative Jenna! I know the grandkids are going to race to the bathroom to see what Frosty is doing this year! What a special Grandma you are!
Thank you Cyndi, they will all be here tomorrow to build gingerbread houses, it will be fun to see who finds him first 🙂
Oh How I LOVE that the snowman’s eyes and mouth create a heart with rosey cheeks! LOVE!!!
wow, I didn’t even see that!! thanks Jodi!
really? I thought it was on purpose – lol! first thing I noticed 🙂
lucky accident!
Your drawing turned out adorable of Frosty fishing, Jenna!! 😃 I like how the gray marker added shading and shape. And he looks so cute fishing with a candy cane in the bathtub! 😍 Good for you to give yourself time to create every day during December! 🎨💕 Cheers!
thanks Jill, my house is a wreck, but hoping to make some progress today plus draw/paint a nutcracker 🙂
Fishing Frosty is too CUTE Jenna!!! I know your grands must get a kick out of all your clever and creative holiday decorations!
Love your quick sketches. Good for you for making time!
I did manage to complete the whole month of prompts from Doodlewash, with one more to go today! It is amazing what you can do if you prioritize things! Thanks Roshanda!
