Fearless Friday, Fishing Frosty

I haven’t made much time for art lately, and I heard myself telling one of my artist buddies that I was going to get back into it in January with a daily challenge…

And then I thought, no, I’m going to start now!!

Doodlewash has subject prompts every month, daily suggestions for drawing or painting

Even though December is the busiest month of the year, I am giving myself a present by stealing 15-20 minutes for daily sketching

I keep a tray of markers, colored pencils and pens handy, no set up or clean up, perfect for squeezing in a quick sketch on busy days

The monthly Doodlewash prompts are always related to things going on during that particular month or season

You don’t have to use the prompts, draw or paint anything you want and post it to social media with #doodlewashDecember2018 to share your creations

I made a Pinterest board of inspirations for the December prompts and would love to share it with you

You can see it here

Or make your own Pinterest board of ideas.  Instead of spending time deciding what to draw or paint, having a collection of ideas, that are easily accessed, gets you started right away

As you can see, the prompt for Dec. 4 was snowman, which got me thinking about how I wanted to stage my bathroom Frosty this year… my grandsons love to fish, so this year Frosty is going fishing in the bathtub!

I am going to do a Fishing Frosty chalkboard, so I decided to do a colored drawing to use as a reference guide to use when I do the chalkboard

A simple pencil sketch, then ink outline

Coloring with markers and adding details as I went along

Shades of grays to define his shape

Leaving parts of his hat white to indicate highlights and shine

“Fishing Frosty”

Be Fearless and make some time for yourself this month!
