The Organized Life, October Paint Bucket

My monthly “Paint Bucket” is a list of recipes to refer to for cooking ideas and inspirations for the upcoming month. It is my way of organizing my meals and menus by choosing 16-18 recipes that are seasonal and appetizing, thus saving a lot of time endlessly browsing through Pinterest boards and saved recipes all month long

I also think it’s fun to have a theme or Flavor of the Month and choose recipes that either have the ingredient or go with the theme

The theme for October is,

you guessed it,

Pumpkin!

If you don’t like Pumpkin,

don’t worry, there are plenty of other tasty recipes too!

Appetizers

Buttery finger cocktail from Food.com

Cheesy Pie Crust Parmesan Sticks from HGTV

Apple Cheddar Pizza w/ Caramelized Onions, Walnuts from Oh My Veggies

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Dip from Delish

Side Dish

Sweet Potato and Bacon Skewers from Home Cooking Memories

Roasted Sunchokes with Herbs from Blogghetti

Pumpkin Risotto with Walnuts & Bleu Cheese from Krumpli

Main Dish

Pumpkin Cheese Stuffed Bolognese Pasta Bake from Half Baked Harvest

Broccoli Cheddar Soup Mini Pies from Half Baked Harvest

Chili and Cornbread Casserole from Plain Chicken

Butternut Squash Noodles w/ Prosciutto and Sage from Food Network

Dessert

Butterscotch Cashew Bars from Bake or Break

Pumpkin Trifles from Southern Living

Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins from Sally’s Baking Addiction

Easy 5 Minute Moist Peanut Butter Mug Cake from Lifestyle of a Foodie

Miscellaneous

Pumpkin Walnut Spirals from the Painted Apron Archives

Here’s what I made from the September Paint Bucket

The flavor of the month was Rainbow Vegetable

Broccoli Bacon Salad with Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

from Haphazard Homemaker was the inspiration for

Rainbow Roasted Vegetable Galette

I also made a new version of one of my favorite galettes,

this one is full of fresh corn and zucchini

Zucchini and Corn Galette

Zucchini Enchilada Roll-ups from Closet Cooking was the inspiration for

this super easy Tex-Mex Chicken Corn & Black Bean Lasagna,

HHjr shared his recipe and technique

for Mongolian Beef with Vegetable Stir Fried Rice

I didn’t have a chance to make this,

but don’t be surprised if you see it in the next few weeks

Almond Amaretto Pound Cake from Dixie Crystals and The Novice Chef

In the meantime, Fall is the perfect time to enjoy

Million Dollar Pound Cake with Toffee Almond Crown

Million $ Pound Cake

My crew loves Chex Mix, and I was going to make Caramel Nut Snack Mix

from Butter with a Side of Bread

But it sounded very sweet,

so I made my more traditional salty mix

adding sesame sticks, pumpkin seeds

and peanut M & Ms for just a touch of sweet

Autumn Snack Mix

And here we are, Happy October!
