Fearless Friday, Tropical Breeze

I am participating in World Watercolor Month,
a watercolor painting everyday in July
Yesterday’s prompt was “Breathe”
which instantly made me think of taking a deep breath,
a happy sigh,
when I look at palm trees and the beach

The art print below by John Clark was my inspiration photo
It is fun to interpret the daily prompts
and stretch your imagination
I started with the palm tree,
painting the palms first and then the trunk
I loved the bright colors in the inspiration photo
so I purposely painted the water with bold strokes of color
For the sky I started by painting the bottoms of the clouds
with pale lavender
Then I painted the sky with cobalt blue,
leaving the paper white above the lavender shapes
to finish the clouds
The palm leaves and trunk got detailed with darker strokes and
I wanted to only suggest the flowers and foliage in the foreground
so they wouldn’t draw attention away from the focal point,
the palm tree

A few dots and strokes of color to indicate the flowers,
sand and grasses

Love your creativity Jenna, and wishing you a wonderful weekend. How do you store all your watercolors that you do?
Thanks Deb, a lot of them I’ve sold or given away and the rest are in a large portfolio or in sketch books.
I feel instantly relaxed and happier just looking at your tropical drawing! We have so much rain here…it’s annoyingly cold that I had to put on my jacket this morning when I went grocery shopping. Now the rain stops, but still no sight of SUN.
It has been a rainy summer in so many places this year, glad I could brighten your day!
The palm tree and the beautiful blue ocean is so calming. You are so talented, Jenna! Happy Friday!
Thank you Pam 🙂
Your tropical watercolor is so serene, I feel I only need a book and blanket for the day! Wishing you a wonderful weekend……….
Thanks Emily, I hope you have a great weekend too!
A beautiful collection, Jenna! 💚 Love your tropical painting, those colors really pop.
Thanks Patty Anne!

Thank you Dorothy!
All so fantastic, but the Tropical Breeze is my favorite of all – gorgeous!
Thank you Martha, palm trees and water views bring instant relaxation don’t they!
Beautiful! I liked your interpretation better than the original. I think the black line outlines detract from the breezy feel.
Very pretty Jenna, love the colors. Palm trees and the water is so calming. Happy Friday. Enjoy your lovely beach house.
Thank you Linda, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend~
