Fearless Friday, Red Roses Abstract Acrylic

The painting below,

“Bloom in a Blue Vase”

is one of my favorites

It was painted in an abstract style from a simple jar of flowers

I decided to crop the photo of the blue jar arrangement

and do another painting

in a similar abstract style

I used a black underpainted canvas and began with the background

Soft turquoise and white

I wanted the strokes to be fast, loose, abstract and bold

Loading your brush with a lot of paint for the bloom strokes,

will add interest with dimension and texture

A couple of strokes for the stems and a fallen petal

Touches of blue

Touches of yellow and white and color in the foreground to finish

Some of these colors were applied with a palette knife for texture

This painting was done in less than an hour total

{I did let the background dry before I started on the jar and flowers}

It was super fun not sweating the details

and just fearlessly painting!

Loosen up and Be Fearless!

I love the texture created by heavy paint on your brush–perfect for this painting.

  5. Ever since I stopped getting your email alerts, I miss so much. Not sure why — it says I am following. I’m not even always seeing them on bloglovin. I’ll try to backtrack to catch up but this is lovely.
