Recipe Box, Loaded Cheeseburger Salad

Hamburgers make a regular appearance at our house,
an easy dinner that we all love,
and there is usually bacon and cheese involved…
We also love a main dish salad, even 10 year old Big E,
like Perfect Taco Salad or
Saving Time Chicken Nugget Salad…
with warmer temps coming up,
how about a cheeseburger salad!

You can load it up with your favorite toppings
and serve it with or without garlic toasted buns
HHjr topped his with Thousand Island dressing
I had mine without the buns,
and topped it with my favorite homemade

To boast up the flavor,
season the hamburger meat with dry onion soup mix
and Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce

First cut bacon into 1 inch pieces and cook in a large skillet until crispy,
drain bacon on paper towels

Add onions to the bacon drippings in the skillet and
saute until soft

Push the onions to the edge of the skillet
and brown the meat
Once meat is browned, stir in onions

Remove the cooked hamburger meat to a colander to drain
then add the mushrooms to the skillet to brown,
adding a little butter and olive oil if necessary

Cut tomatoes in half and cut cheese into cubes or pieces
{no need to grate cheese, as it will melt down when added to the warm hamburger meat}

Return hamburger and onions to skillet
add bacon and stir to combine
Toss in the cheese
Cover the skillet and turn burner off

Let pan sit for 5-10 to warm everything through and melt cheese

Serve over lettuce and top with tomatoes,
french fried onions and salad dressing of choice

Add some garlic toasted hamburger buns if desired
and serve salad with dressing of choice

I usually always order a loaded salad when I am out. I particularly like a hoagie salad. Do you have a recipe for that Jenna?

Jenna, a loaded cheeseburger salad, I would have never thought of that! With bacon and all of the trimmings it must be amazing. We have decided to cut out bread in our diet, so this is a great way to enjoy a cheeseburger. Happy Thursday!
You’ll never miss the bun!
This reminds me a bit of my favorite taco salad but with different trimmings (and no bun!). With all the good flavors, who needs hot sauce! Looks great!
Thanks Jeanie, it is a nice way to lighten up a cheeseburger {if you don’t get too carried away with all the trimmings š}
What a genius idea! One of the best salads that I have seen in a long time, Jenna.
Thanks so much Angie!
This looks like a perfect salad to experiment with the new meat substitutes!
