Fearless Friday, Funky Flowers with Acrylic & Paint Pens

Let’s have some fun today with funky flowers!

I am working on a series of 8″ x 10″ acrylic floral paintings

I have made several collages to refer to for inspiration

“Whimsy,” the painting pictured below

is the first one I painted in the series,

and shared the steps last year here

I painted today’s Funky Flowers using

a photo {below} from the collage

I started by painting the backgound

The table was painted with a brush loaded with brown and yellow

so the paint would be a streaky mix when applied to suggest wood

Simple flower shapes

Then the vase

Adding petals, leaves, details with simple strokes

I used a paint pen for the background dots

and the black dots in the red flower’s center

Then I decided it still needed a little something

so I added a few more simple lines with paint pens

to highlight the shapes and wood

I got a set of 12 assorted color acrylic paint pens

from Amazon here

Have fun with shapes and colors~

Be Fearless!

Lately some comments are posting anonymous instead of with your name even though you’ve commented before~ This is happening to me too when I am visiting some blogs. I have found that if I use a different browser, like Chrome, it doesn’t happen. I apologize, and I’ve talked to WordPress about this and all they said was that you have to fill out the form that pops up and fill in your name and email. I know this can be a pain, so if you’re comments are posting anonymously just add your name to the end of your comment~ I’d love to know who I’m chatting with! Thank you so much!

You are so talented! You always make painting look so easy, but I know if I tried it would look nothing like flowers, lol. The paintings are beautiful! Thanks for sharing on Crafty Creators & Happiness is Homemade! I’ll be choosing the features for September on HIH, so you’ll see me here for both parties.
