Fearless Friday, Cantaloupe

The hardest thing about art for me is deciding what to paint!
I often scroll through Pinterest, Pixabay, and Unsplash,
and see what catches my eye
I saw this fruit still life and fell in love with the cantaloupe

I decided not to sketch it, and just jump right in

Simple strokes

Building color as I went

I tucked the second piece behind the first

Shadows to ground them

hmmm…splatter or no?
Splatter!

I agree that the splatter adds to the feeling of juiciness!
I never thought about that but you’re right, it does! Thanks Linda!
Sweet juicy cantaloupe is one of our favourite summer fruit!
Yes, so good!
Love this, Jenna — AND it makes me want to go get a cantaloupe!
haha, thanks Jeanie!
Looking good! I still haven’t tried splatters yet. It’s a scary technique to think about trying unless you’re an true artist like yourself.
Oh Allyson, you should try splatter, it’s a lot of fun and it really adds a finishing touch to paintings. Practice on a piece of paper to get a feel for it~ have fun!
What a great picture Jenna – love the cantaloupe! I vote for the splatter too! I hope you have a lovely week!
Thank you Kim!
