Fearless Friday, Summer Blooms

Flowers are a passion,
and when I see a pretty arrangement like this one
by my friend Pam from Everyday Living,
my first thought is I want to paint that!

So I did~

Let me show you the steps
I printed out a collage of photos that I want to paint,
including Pam’s arrangement
I keep the reference photos on my easel while I paint
Step one is placing the blooms
next, the vase
Small strokes to add shadows to further establish
the white hydrangea blooms
Layers of darker pinks on the tulips
I added small darker purple strokes to the lavender
the green wispy stems got little leaves
I filled in the background with blue and green
More contrast on the vase
I wasn’t happy with the background washes,
so I deepened the colors and added another color shadow

then, Splatter!!
