Holidays, Family Christmas Fun

My halls are finally officially “decked!”

After 2 weeks of feeling they were a wreck!

I had a lot of help this year

The boys decorated the tree

With no help from me!

They did a great job

It made my heart throb…

Our tree is not a “decorator” tree, it is a family tree with ornaments from many years

Full of memories, full of cheers!

Some ornaments are tattered and a little sad

But the boys love seeing the ornaments made by their Dad!

We had our annual gingerbread house decorating party on Sunday

With temps in the mid 60s, it was mild enough to be outside

and just chilly enough to light the fire

HHjr wrapped colored lights around the chimneys and

draped a garland full of oversized ornaments across the mantel and cooking areas

I might have told him it looked like a Mexican restaurant

It’s very festive!

The gingerbread houses joined the Candyland scene on my studio cabinet

My easel is sporting a large Fa la la sign

The black and white dish will hold treat bags for our Christmas Eve guests to take home

{note to self: make the treat bags!}

The kitchen banister is decorated with the boys stockings, and white lights

And the boys have enjoyed their Advent Calendar every night

In the dining room things are quiet and serene

A choir of Burlap Angels in the hallway makes such a pretty scene

Frosty’s in place in the Powder Room

Frosty has taken a Bubble Bath, A Shower,

He’s had a Day at the Spaa Meltdown, and Gone Fishing…

He’s having a peppermint bubble bath this year

The kiddos love it when he appears!

Santa waves from his convertible near a colorful forest of bottle brush trees

Things are Ho ho ho Jolly in the family room,

Have a seat if you please!

Presents and Merry pillows and an ornament tiered tray “tree”

The mantel is full of lights and holiday greenery

The faux garland was put in place with no hassle,

with a gift from a special friend, a MacKenzie-Childs scented tassel

The mantel is flanked by the Sweet Home Alabama Cotton Tree

and fresh poinsettias which I just love to see

This handsome prince  is standing guard in the center of the house

where he can keep an eye out for present peekers who are quiet as a mouse

I haven’t wrapped any gifts, but the guys have been busy…

I might get it done now that I’m not in a tissy

Oh, and can you have too many Christmas lights?

I just love the way they brighten up nights!

HHjr ran red and white lights down the front rails

We call this house The North Pole and Santa prevails!

You can take a tour of the South Pole here

I am taking time this week to relax and reflect and enjoy the precious moments

and watch a Hallmark movie or two…

Do you still have a million and one things left to do?

It is hard to believe that Christmas is only a week away!!

But I think I’m ready…or will be soon anyway!

Good luck with your last minute holiday preparations!

  2. I agree with Ann, I see love in every area of your home. The memories tree decorated by the boys is so beautiful and special. I am not the “decorator” tree kind of person…give me a tree filled with memories! I do love the nutcracker, he looks so royal! Your home is beautifully dressed for Christmas and a I love it! Have a merry Wednesday, Jenna!

Ha! Mexican restaurant indeed!!! Your house is beautiful. I almost fainted seeing your kiddo on the ladder! But what a fabulous job they did. Decorator trees? Never heard of them. Merry Christmas!!!

So fun. I love that you turned it into a poem. We had our last party last night so now I can just piddle and add to – if I have more time I do more so it never ends until midnight hits on the 24th. I just love your new guy that stands guard. There are touches of fun everywhere. The burlap angels are so cute and of course Frosty and the pillows. How fun to have the North Pole and the South Pole. You are so creative and cute. Merry Christmas!

I am agreeing with the others who have commented… so much FAMILY LOVE prevails through each picture you show! I love all the memories each and every one of them! I’m not a designer tree kind of gal as well… it’s all about memories!

What a touching post! I think “memory trees” are the best, the boys did a great job! How fun to make gingerbread houses outside by a beautiful fireplace and I love it with all the lights and decorations, everything is so festive. Mr. Nutcracker is awesome! You know how to keep Christmas joyous Jenna, well done! Merry Christmas to you and your entire family. 🎄🎄🎄

Jenna, Your home is so merry and bright! I love your tree and the fact that boys decorated it for you I had to laugh at ‘I might have told him it looked like a Mexican restaurant’ 🙂 So wonderful to have an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Last weekend’s weather was perfect for your gingerbread decorators! I have 100 more things I want to do but have accept they probably won’t get down this year. ♥

    • I still have boxes of decor I haven’t touched, I hope to motivate myself to do a serious purge after Christmas! I hope you can relax and enjoy the next few Merry days until Christmas!

  15. I don’t know what I love most here! Maybe the tree decorating help? No, I think it’s the gingerbread house making — I long for the day when I can do that with the boys! Or maybe the beautiful trees and your wonderful staircase? Or the fun door? No, the pretty mantle. No, I’ve got it. Santa in the tub. That is BRILLIANT! We never use the tub, just the shower in the other bath unless there are guests. You may have created a monster in the making for me next year! I ADORE it! Merry and Happy to you and to a creative new year, though how you can top this, who knows?

I’m so late for this tour but I love it! Your home looks amazing and perfectly decorated. So much to love, each room and oh the fireplace and pizza over with all those lights. The boys did an amazing job on the tree. I love the new nutcracker placed in the foyer, the perfect place! Love the gingerbread decorating pic, those faces! Glad you are taking time for yourself to enjoy, you have a busy schedule. Hard to believe Christmas is almost here. I’m finished decorating. Kept it simple this year. Have a wonderful Christmas Jenna………..
